Why NSW lose

There is a simple answer to this loss.

Everyone should be turning the focus on the selectors and the coach.

Mitchell Pearce has never been up to this level,,,, Never. I have always said this from the first series he played in.

But the Selectors are to scared to make a tough decision and select a player on form and drop a player who isnt up to it.

Too many people have labelled NSW selectors unloyal simply because they make changes to find the right combo. They couldnt handle the pressure and decided to select a playmaker ( Surprisingly the son of a former origin great ) who is not up to it and persisted with him series after series and when your halfback isnt up to it at this level you are in trouble.

Pearce has been playing well at club level this year and had an ok game in game 1 but apart from that I havent seen him do anything good in the origin arena. Yet he was selected year after year,,, Can you explain that???? Dumb. And everyone who says this crap about NSW not sticking to their players well you have just learnt the hard way what happens when you persist with someone who is not up to it. Adam Reynolds was the clear choice this year in my opinion. Very young and an EXCELLENT organiser. Not only that but if you want to build a dynasty like queensland you start when they are young.

Queensland have been using the loyalty card against NSW for years…. We need to ignore them and make the decisions that will win a series for F%$#S sake.

I thought it was because Queensland have better players; and have done for the last 8 series.

I agree that hasnt helped us…. But they havent been smashing mate.... Particularly over the last couple of series,,, They are very good but we are very close behind them... A competant halfback would have probably got us over the line.

The writing was on the wall back in February when Daley stated Pearce was his origin half back before the season even started. So form has nothing to do with it? Reynolds should have been the nsw halfback based on form.

Maloney got picked because of his combo with Pearce. I actually thought he'd be a lot better but Maloney was something of a disappointment in origin.

Our halves cost us the game last night. And that falls directly at Laurie daleys feet. Daley needs to go now!

Bring back GUS!

I completely see where you are coming from and I was being a tad facetious. In fact I was thinking about how close we are in actual fact getting to them. However, when the big moments are there to be won their players stand up. That's what makes their players better than what we have. Compare them man for man and there aren't many that you would pick ahead of the Queensland mob. In fact the Australian selectors will do that at the end of the season.

Genius,, Do you work for the labor party.

Simply answering a simple question for the simpletons. I'm glad you responded, and no I work for my kids.
Maybe we can outscore Qld next year, but it won't be simple.

I agree tigsta. QLD has assembled a side that is not just a team of champions, but a champion team as well. That being said, I thought we were lucky to win the 2012 series and to a degree the same can be said about this year. Pearce is a terrible halfback at this level. The injuries to Gallen, Hayne and Lewis certainly contributed to our win last night. NSW are not far behind, but they are losing each year in the selection room. Bob Fulton should shoulder a lot of the blame for this as should Daley. Stubbornly staying with Pearce, as well as Ennis and Creagh a few years ago really hurt your sides makeup. When they get the decisions at the selection room right, QLD could be in trouble…until that day I can see 2014 being much of the same.

I think the lack of pressure we apply is our biggest downfall. We match them in the forwards and have nullified their great backs. But our halves aren't applying any pressure at all. Pearce had a few very poor last tackle options and in return Cronk and Thurston often make the right decision and execute well.

Also we used so many second man sweeping fullback plays when Dugan isn't a great passer. We should have played more direct attacking the Queensland forwards.

Im trying to work out where I asked a question warranting that as an answer. Did you even read the thread?

I think you just seen WHY NSW LOSE and you think that was my question and then you answered it like a simpleton.

Read it next time ,,, There is more info apart from the subject.

But you were probably trying to make a joke so good luck with your comedic career.

Why NSW lose? Qld have had a much better squad over the past 8 years. You can blame Pearce and co, but what halfback has sat in the wings 8 years and has not had a crack who is even close to Cronk or Thurston? It's not like we're having superstars watch the game from their living rooms while we churn out hacks. Hopefully Adam Reynolds keeps on developing and will be good to go next year.

1\. Points
2\. Coach
3\. Talent

1\. They have more strike power across the park. Proven players, Australian first picks.

2\. We have a coach that's nothing more than a fill in. No one else is interested, with a proven track record. No one wants the job while they dominate. Can you suggest anyone.

3\. Talent wise we're thin. Last year we went close but no cigar. This year the best scenario was to stick with SOO 1 halves, one their club halves, and two benefit of the doubt was given after playing in front of a intimidating Qld crowd, well for Maloney's progression mostly.
Yeah we can say Reynolds but he's inexperienced as well. Can't always blame selectors when the cupboard is bare.

It's like Queensland have been smashing us. They haven't. We have been very close. I can't help but think that a change to the halfback may have helped. But the selectors chose to stick with Pearce who was ok but that's it. You need to find the right combo and you need to make changes to do that. They were petrified picking someone else because they would be labelled unloyal.

I'm so disappointed that NSW went with Pearce again. Particularly with the most important position on the field. In my opinion his selection in the side lost us the series. I feel sorry for him and I dont want to bag him out. But he was never up to origin level.
