Why are the Roosters going for Cronk?

Then I have to look at the competition, why would Manly!!?? want Cronk? They have DCE locked down for 12 years, Unless they punt Green and move DCE to 5/8 why would they want Cronk.

Parramatta makes sense, you punt Norman and partner Moses with Cronk. Even though this is pretty high risk.

Cronulla makes sense, but where their cap money is coming from I have no idea. I guess that Gallen is probably close enough to retirement that they would just tap him.

Penrith makes sense, as Phil Gould may think he will loose Nathan Cleary so why not punt him and move the next gen up.

Canterbury makes sense, but don't have the cap space anywhere. If Woods's contract gets knocked back, and they offload the Morris twins then I could see a Cronk offer materialising.

Naturally St George and Souths don't make sense and they haven't bidden for Cronk. Are the Roosters just being silly Roosters as always.
 
This idea is out of the blank but I think Cronk will play lock wherever he ends up.

Just like Bird will at the Broncos.

The lock position is in for a change.
 
Has anyone noticed the Roosters always chase players who either supported their club as children (Tedesco) or have previously played for the club (Crichton). Note Marsters previously trialled or played with the Roosters and Fittler is a big fan.

We haven't mastered the honourable art of "salary cap manipulation" as of yet. Look at the top sides of the last 4 or 5 years…..they all have that stench of dodgy dealings about them. Roosters, Broncos: pretty much goes without saying that every fan believes these 2 operate well outside most clubs' budgets. Storm: wouldn't surprise if they are still utilizing their "free boats" sham to this day. Cowboys: wasn't there big murmurings around some sort of shonky "housing deals" around their players a few seasons back IIRC? Sharks: have gone from a club on it's knees without a cent to it's name to a bottomless pit of expendable funds in 3 or 4 short years.
The answer is most likely in amongst that pile as to why certain clubs hover around the basement for year upon year. It is only going to get worse that is for certain.

All of these are way overs.

Fergusson is on peanuts as he's gold a whole bunch of stuff held over him by the likes of Politis et al.

Manu is a fringe winger, would be lucky to be on half of that.

Cordner I read somewhere is on the equivalent of 666k per year

Aubussion is on something like 250k - but he's in golden handshake and veteran territory

Taukeiaho and Lui 400k? Nahh…..

I mean don't get me wrong - they are cap rorters, but it's not THAT bad.

Obviously those aren't the numbers, but even in the papers NRL saying Roosters have $400K left in their cap, Roosters themselves reckon it's $850K. Don't know how that computes.

Is under the salary cap, esp when Roosters would confirmed be shilling out $850-900K to each of Tedesco and Cronkasaurus, so $1.7M of $9.5M (18%) on two players.

Personally I think they are light on for props and that was shown up in the finals. But I don't care, because they would still have at least four top-flight players in that side, and by that I mean Top 3 in their position in the who comp (Tedesco, Latrell, Cronk, Cordner), plus 5 more very highly-regarded (Ferguson, JWH, Friend, Napa, Pearce) that would walk into any other FG side. And then the round-outs of the Top 17 would still be near-sure starters for most other teams.

Just can't wear that, don't care how Roosters dodgy up the numbers with their pals at Moore Park.
 
How do people know what players get paid when their salaries are undisclosed..

The Roosters are at the big end of town and have plenty of benefactors to call on. Like who wouldnt want to collaborate with Packer, Gyngell & Bouris in their spare time?!

Cordner & Pearce has been in there system for a very long time and are probably in their Salary Cap for a 3rd of what they are actually earning, as too Tedesco. Being such a high profile recruit, he is probably only in their Cap for 1/2 of what he is earning.

Plus I'd be surprised if Aubusson; Taukeiaho; Liu & Keary come within 70% of those numbers above.

How many of our players are on TPA’s ?
 
One quick way to clear all this up is make each clubs salary cap transparent and the players wages public information like in the NFL. The players association would carry on about it all, but you'd immediately know where the cheating was occurring if wages were transparent.
 
My opinion on the Roosters is there are a GREEDY organisation..this goes way past wanting to win .This type of behaviour does no one any good the code the NRL and the diminishing fan base that the league has to stop bleeding ,if the NRL think that this type of rortng is ok they are dreaming ….the game is dying on the vine and this just helps kill it off!
