Why so much hate for Benji ?!- Our forwards are getting smashed

Sorry for a player who has been around since 2003 played 279 NRL games and 27 International games and captained NZ I think he should be using his experience and composure much better.

Time to put him on the bench or give him a break.

Will also be a legend but at the moment is tarnishing his reputation.

Time to stand up Benji as we really need you.

i think it'd be wrong to say our forwards haven't worked hard.

we've been getting dominated in the ruck for a while now but our forwards are still working hard and scrambling very well within the rucks then doing the hard carries with our backs out of our own 20 usually.

at the end of it all, you need your half to make sure the ball either goes in to touch or find space- benji didn't do that. but what he did was went for the miraculous play on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th tackle, dropped passes, constantly gave hospital passes to marsters, rochow and elijah or to other flat footed people.

our forwards aren't good but they're working hard for each other and the team but this guy keeps making their job harder with really crappy options or really bad executions.

only half way through this thread, but has anyone posted that maybe the reason the forward pack lacked any punch is because they were buggered by having to defend so much because of the attack turning over so much possession with mistakes and chipping on the first tackle 15m out?

as for the thread title it seems a no brainer that people are annoyed that although starting the season so well, ie; as the "Broncos/Dragons Benji" he has reverted in quick time to "2010-2013 Tigers Benji"…

Russell our dud winger made over 170m and had 10 mins off…

He is one of the first picked from what I can see. Him and Fonua carried most of our forwards.

Benji won’t be going anywhere till Reynolds is back. And even then, Reynolds would need match fitness. Could always throw Tui in at 6 😏

Benji ain't the problem. He is a mirror for the team and steps up in key moments…we just haven't created enough of the lately.

Those stats would make it difficult for any half to shine. Easy to target Benji but that wont resolve the fact that our forwards have lost their go forward.

Would be my move, Tui was playing decent at 6 towards the end of last season.

Hasn't played for a few weeks though - so pretty risky until he settles again.

What does that even mean?

Just means that given an even break Benji will most of the time perform better than expected. We have lost the ruck last few weeks and had key forwards out ie At Packer and Lawrence who are the smarts in defence. If these guys are back and play their minutes we can only judge him then.
Teams dropped way too much ball,

Ah yeah the knee injury, probably be in nsw cup until he's back up to speed

Lolihea hasn't played a good NRL game all season. Has not played since Round 5.

I cant see him coming back after a few weeks out and being the answer.

However a Bench role subbing in for Benji for 30 minutes could be something Ivan looks at before Reynolds gets back (If he ever does)

Obviously this could impact on the hooker situation.
