Why so much hate for Benji ?!- Our forwards are getting smashed

This is a pointless thread. We all know football and we all know that both the forwards and Benji were poor. There needs to be changes in the pack and the halves. End of story.

Kinda agree..we could also drop a winger…

Which one? If you're thinking of Nofa, he was actually was one of our best. In previous weeks he deserved axing but not this week. In reality, the two wingers gained a hell of a lot more metres than our forwards…....

People are ridiculous when it comes to Nofa, his metres from our own end are invaluable, he is basically another prop out there.

Well, when your 5/8 kicks on the first tackle when we're 15 metres from their line, I think you can see why people aren't happy with him.

This kick sums up B Marshall!!!!!!!! !!!
End of story!!!!!!!!!!
Dumbest thing I’ve seen ….....EVER!!!!!

I'm sure this would of been talked about in team meetings this week. When defending their goal line on tackles 1-3/4, rts defends in the line leaving the warriors open to the kick behind. No one cleaning up in the in goal. Should be a try most times. It was the execution and how telegraphed it was for green to read that was a major problem. The idea came from a weakness in the warriors game plan

I really don't think you have been following my posts…The pack has got owned in the last 3 weeks something that was not happening in the earlier Rounds yet a lot of fans solution is to drop Nofoaluma...

so it was a go with the flow post...lol

Most people take whats writen literally an don't have time to "follow people's posts"

It confused me as well

Benji played poorly yesterday. Said it before I don't think Ivan's intention was to play him for 80mins. Injuries have played a part.

Puts the team under pressure, plays low % plays and crabbed side ways without attempting run it or push through a gap.

Kicked early when there was nothing on and we needed to retain possession. Kicked to tim grant and Rochow for goodness sakes when holding the ball may have resulted in a try or at least maybe a repeat set of 6.

I wouldn't promote gamble to starting 6 maybe bring him off the bench against the Cowboys.

You’re hit the nail right on the head, our pack has been dominated without Packer, and everyone wants to sack everyone in the backs.

No point promoting Gamble until we begin to at the very least compete in the ruck… Would be a lamb to the slaughter promoting him now when our forwards aren't firing

Maybe that's true. However, the chases were Tim Grant and Robbie Rochow. I'm not sure it was planned.

Sorry Geo, I think I missed the dry humour. Our forwards have definitely been owned and the dropping of a winger is not going to help much…

Cant fire behind a beaten pack its that simple. The form our pack showed in the early part of the comp is simply not there - and I do think its critical to have a fast running dummy half to get your pack going forward, and try as he does Godinet is another weakness in our squad.
Losing the close games will always come back and bite you but yesterday we were never going to be in it with 43% and twenty minutes with 12 men and pack going nowhere.

Benji has been pretty poor for 3 weeks. Bad errors, bad options, 7 tackle sets. Reynolds has to be 5/8 when fit as Benji can’t hold the position all year at this stage of his career.
The forwards are suffering due to Liddle being out. No one gets them onto the ball and there is zero threat from dummy half.

No ones arguing our forwards haven't been owned

The point still comes down to Benji looking at the next play and making it profitable

Not creating a miracle play when nothing is on , Warriors were smart they were covering the grubber kick early in the count

Benji needs to be smart , look for an option that will get a quick play the ball for the next play

And if it was Gamble you'd could excuse it , Benji's in his 15th season

You can't waste those chances , especially when you aren't getting many quality ones

Benji was playing well when the pack was going forward. Its a team sport to single him out will resolve nothing in the the team improving and getting back to what they were doing well.
Start pointing out what Matulino and the rest of the pack arent doing well and add that to Benjis game then thats a fair assessment of where we are at after yesterdays game.

Even Benji's kick offs were lazy arse efforts …
Needs a reality check and has to be dropped for the Leichhardt game

If we have a better option yes

As much as it would kill me to move him from the back row , Lawrence at 6 ??

Especially if Packer is back …....

You can't put Gamble up against Morgan and Thurston on debut 😱pen_mouth:

Sure Benji was ordinary.

However we are getting smashed in the ruck. Knights, Eels and Warriors are steamrolling us in the middle and getting quick play the balls. We are playing off the back foot all night. Teams are running out of dummy half and we are being forced intoalotof legs tackles as they are playing it quicker and jumping out all night.

What impact are Matalino, Sue, Rochow and Et having?? All of them ran for less then 50 metres? That is pathetic !! Matalino has been horrible two weeks in a row. Rochow has hit the wall big time. ET looks like he hasten too many mocks to the head. Sue is Sue. I know Aloai made errors but we sure missed him tonight.

Forwards need mohave a look at themselves. Because I believe they are better then what they are producing the last couple of weeks.

But didn't we have an overall faster play the ball than the Warriors last night?

We missed the impact that Aloiai provides, but maybe the coach thought that his dropped balls were having more of an impact. However, not a shade on the negative impact of last night's sideline focused Benji with his crazy kicking and the very poor passing choices by the man next to him in Masters.

We gave away waaaay too much ball, with the momentum and game killer being the one Benji made several minutes prior to half time. It put further defensive pressure on a pack that was already in recovery mode from a sin bin and for mine directly contributed to the further binning of Taylor early in the second half, which was the final nail in our coffin.

A team that is short on players and ball is always going to be struggling in defence which leaves no fuel for attack. One thing though that was hard to fathom, was Green not also going to the bin on the back off a couple of penalties and Elijah barely missing a try in the incident.

The criticism of Benji is justified. The percentage footy he played in the early rounds has disappeared. Against Knights in that final 5mins he needed to kick the ball out and slow play down but he didn’t. Against Parra twice he kicks on tackle 4 and gifted Parra their sets starting on the 40m line. Against the Warriors his overall kicking game was horrible and the chip kick on tackle 2 was inexcusable as the only chasers in that vicinity were Rochow and Grant. His decision making has been poor for weeks not just last night.
