Why the drastic change in style?

Despite the completely poor start to the year it is obvious sheens has drastically changed our style of play from the last two years. i know we have a new halfback but the style has changed dramatically.

* continually playing the first man - now we were never a team that relied on the boring second man play, but we have used it once all year and we scored (blair against manly) instead we are hitting the man at the line who has three defenders swarming in on him

* kicking early, i know we scored from it tonight but ive lost count of the amount of times we've kicked on the second and third tackle when on attack this year

* mid field bombs. seriously wtf? we're 40 out and instead of pinning them in their own in goal and macking them ruck it 100ms, benji puts massive mid field bomb up EVERY single time, it lands on the 20 and we havent got possession back once

* attacking to the right. for the last 3 years our left side of ellis, lawrence and tuiaki/lote/whoever has been our go to and scored the bulk of our tries. in the 3 games this year we havent had ONE single backline play to our left. we have one of the best attacking weapons in the NRL catching a cold over on the left whilst we run all these plays for ayshford and ryan. had anybody seen the dragons right side defence in the first two rounds?? are we trying a shock tactic as teams expect us to swing it to the left? the only people its shocking is us fans

* benji the sole ball player. i know he is brilliant, but how well did we go from 2007-midway through 2009 when benji was our sole ball player? we were terrible. say what you want about lui but he took the pressure off benji and gave the teams something else to think about. i dont care if its miller, humble, farah or even moltzen (after getting a rocket) we need someone

this isnt another boring SACK SHEENS thread, however i am wondering why we have completely changed the style of play that got us to the top 4 the last two years in a row? it makes no sense at all

You make some very good points Fergie.

The bombs are a complete mystery after never having seen one for 10 years, and as you say they have been to no good effect.

The biggest thing for me has been the complete lack of penetration from the half back. Lui for all his defensive faults at least ran the ball to the line. Have I seen the current incumbant do that more than once in the three games so far?

However, I do tip my lid to Molten's defence which has been very good.

Well summed up Fergie. We look disjointed in attack and maybe we just have to show some patience after all it is a new 1, 6, 7 & 9 combo. It took Lui around 30 games before he demanded some ball and felt confident to run the ball and overcall Benji. I hope Moltz starts backing himself. Your right about his defence - rock solid. The same can't be said about our middle tonight - they're tries were up the guts and it was embarrassing the ease in which they went through us. Can someone please explain why Lawry isn't getting good early ball???? We're all asking that question and I hope Sheens can answer that for us…...

Someones been drinking i think

Why the drastic change in style Look at the teams that have won the premierships since 2005 and the style of footy

They could play attractive footy don't get me wrong , but they won with great defence and taking high percentage options

It may take us a while to find a groove , but watch out when we do

The bombs are an interesting one. They worked during the trials because they were aimed for Tedesco.

Now that he is gone they are simply ineffective and need to stop.

It seems an almost safety first style of footy…..the footy you play to minimise errors and wait for things to ''hopefully'' happen

I'm sure its more structured than it looks, but at times it looks very, "Here, your ball - you do something ...Ive no idea."

Outside backs are suffering from a lack of go forward, Moltzen when he gets involved more often than not is just a link man....Humble looks unconfident, hospital passes to players standing still.
one passage of play there with about 15 to go it all unravelled, everyone looked like they gave up, ball hit the deck someone kicked at it in frustration.....and thats just the attack, dont start on the defense!!

I think the 'Sack Sheens' theories should be re-visited. The man is seriously a very poor coach. Coupled with his sidekick Humphreys, they will cause more damage than good.

Why have all the players with NRL contracts play for one State Cup team ? Whats the point? It is a failure and it is destryoing the Wests Magpies.

It is not helping first grade.
Or is it to make sure that the Balmain members of the Wests Tigers board will always vote for these two people to keep their jobs?

Why release 3 top players in Gibbs, Fifita and Brown when we already lost Payten and Dwyer.

Why play GROAT in the team when he is seriously not ready yet and was one of the main reasons why we lost to the Warriors in the Semi's last year?

Why doesn't the captain speak with the coach AT ALL outside of football?

Seriously, SHEENS keeps on making the same mistakes, year after year.

Get rid of him.

I wish fifty six worked in the rugby league industry with the team and saw all the other challenges and criteria that is considered when making team selections! U obviously have no idea wot u r talking about! U bone heads saying its sheens fault have minimal to zero football knowledge and understanding!
It is ppl like u that probably rarely go to games and have never been involved in coaching at a high level
