Why the Farah hate campaign?

They had Dean Young pencilled in as Hooker before the season started. Stuart (Coach) and Craig Young (Mgr) want Dean.

I can't quote properly but a forumer wrote:
"think it is simply an opinion by the selectors and coaches that robbie can sometime take some bad options in pressure situations"
if this is the "reason" why a player won't make origin you can scrap just about every player from the city/country game.
F'n Hayne had a woeful game and tries to be the hero with a chip kick which leads to the country sides winning try.
Hayne train, plane and now down the drain!!!!!

In the past, Laurie Daly and his merry men have tried picking players that are tough players and rugged in defense in hope of stopping the QLD attack. I dont care who they pick, they'll never stop a team that boasts a backline of Thurston, Lockyer, Slater, Inglis, Hodges and whoever is there on the wings. They've tried that for 5 miserable years and have lost 5 series in a row.

QLD are going to score points, no doubt about it! What NSW have to do is pick players who will score points and take on QLD in a points shoot out. For that to happen they're going to have to pick players who can score points or manufacture them. Farah is a player who can manufacture points and win a game for you. Ennis or Young can't do that.

That's a fact!

Also to that point is that Ennis defense is a lot lot worse then Farahs - he regularly misses quite a few tackles (8 in one game this year) , Ennis gives away lots more penalties as well - if you want to talk about game turning moments then giving away penalties is the biggest downfall in Origin for any player - Young's defence is about the same level as Farah but he doesen't have the skill or the passing game

I think Robbie will get picked because of this.

100% CORRECT…..

Robbie Farah should have been picked over Danny bederus years ago when he was carving him up, 06/07\. Bederus was a great player dont get me wrong, but the writing was on the wall for him at the time and Robbie was the form hooker. Quite frankly if you play for the tigers, you simply won't get picked for origin. What is it now 5/6 players to play origin in the wests tigers 11 year history?

100% Correct… Now lets hope the Selectors dont troll these threads. That will ruin my fun every June/July...

Not so sure there is an actual campaign against him. But he gets no favours from the media thats for sure. Unlike the queensland origin selection process , getting picked for the blues nowadays is alot like politics, u need an election campaign, in the nrl its in the form of newspaper articles and buffoon "experts" giving their opinions on tv.
robbie has one or 2 in the herald paper, but u really need a couple in the telegraph and a few on tv as well. ennis has these in abundance, ofcourse it has little to do with his ability as a player and very much to do with his ability to get chummy with the right people.
The blues selectors truely are clueless , they clearly listen to the media on selection issues, infact the coach and selectors are/were employed in the media themselves.
Put simply, robbie has no friends where it counts, that will keep him out of the blues team barring injuries to their favourites regardless of form. so while i dont think there is a "hate" campaign against robbie, he certainly lacks a "love" campaign for him.
i do also believe being a smart arse "leb" counts against him, but that doesnt mean he isnt the best damn hooker in nsw by a country mile.

My post from a similar thread is pertinent here, too:

The trouble with the NSW selections for the past 5 years is that they have tried to pick guys to belt Queensland out of the contest. Hence the reason the media talks up Gallen, Bird and the Grub.

What they seem to forget is that the way to beat the Toads is with superior football. Queensland are a highly skilled team. Look at their 1, 6, 7 & 9… Smith, Thurston, Lockyer and Slater. They are not boofhead grubs like Ennis, they are the spine of the team with the footballing nouse to create points.

NSW must match this. Whilst they keep picking Ennis over Farah, the result will never change. This time last year the dogs were running in the bottom 3 and the Sharks were dead-ringer last. Between these two sides they had six players make the NSW squad. Why? Because they were supposedly built for origin. Brain dead selections such as this will result in more of the same.

The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Queensland will win again in 2011.

On a brighter note Robbie Farah got voted players player last night which is no mean feat considering Sauce and Junior Junior played blinders.

Robbie was unlucky to be dropped in the first place after just 1 ordinary game….not a shocker i dont think.

Agree with sunshine we need to score plenty of points and ennis isnt as creative as robbie.

We as a club hardly get any players in the origin teams even when we were premiers.

Kimmorley really gave the Wests Tigers style of play a serve on the tele the other night when talking about Origin.

He was very very scathing.

He's probably plugging for Ennis indirectly.

Robbie is undoubtedly the best attacking hooker in the game. There was a school of thought however that in rep games the players around him did not know what he was doing because they weren't used to him. He'd have a tendency to use some of the intricate Wests Tigers moves that his rep team mates were not used to.

Looking at last night's game - he played a very conservative style and was defensively strong which is in terms of his normal attacking flair is most unusual. He did not play first reciever at all and his signature "drift across the park" to pick up runners was missing as well. I thought he was playing to orders which he seemed to do well.

I think it's a case of fitting an image or archetypal "origin player" which I am sad to say does not seem to be Robbie's fortay. Ironically, if they let him use his flair and control the ruck more as he does with the TIgers, NSW would be much better served.

Based on Kimmorleys Origin performances he is in no position to say somebody else shouldnt
