This signing could save out season. I think it is a shrewd bit of business. The risk must be is he the same player he was 2 seasons ago? His form of 2 or 3 years ago was exceptional. Obviously having not played much the past 12 months, and with one knee reco recently under the belt he might of lost it.

However he is certainly worth a go short term and at 29 we could get some value out of him.

What have we to loose, lets face it Moltzen,Ryan and Fitzhenry really have not set the world on fire from the no1 position. They have all done a job but like most positions on the field a specialist usually will do a better job.

He played every game last year. I don't think there is really anything wrong with his knee these days other than him not being quite as fast as he used to be.

He is aggressive, thats what the Tigers have missed. The closest we get to anything hostile is perhaps Bryce Gibbs on the odd day. Rest of the time we are inviting the opposition in for tea and crumpets. He is one guy I always dreaded the Tigers playing against. Speed, tackle busts, good involvement around the ruck, can definitely catch a high ball. The 4some of Marshall, Farah and McKinnon should be good. Jury is still out on Lui. Moltzen for half longer term….

I really think Moltzen has a lot of work to do to become a leading first grade half back, i think Sheens is somehow right about Molten being a better fullback, but sadly he didn't live up to it at the back. i think he will struggle next year to push for a first grade gig with the tigers , i really do..

Those stats are better than expected! Especially regarding the line break assists.
Regardless of the fact that Fitzhenry has had 2 decent games at the back, fullback is our weakest position and also one of the most important on the paddock.
McKinnon's defence (including organising the frontline) and work under the high ball will be the most important thing. He'll also run hard and be really busy around the ruck in attack. ie. he'll play like a real fullback.
I can;t wait to see the difference he makes to how solid we are at the back & kick returns.
And he has mongrel :slight_smile:

Moltzen is exceptional when he can float around and inject himself every now and again.
Like when he came up into the line for the last bit against Manly.
& that is the job of an impact bench player. I see him like Craig Wing was at his best on the bench.
