Will 05 be that only year in this era?

Do you think that 05 is going to be the only year in this era that we win the comp? I mean the benji Farah era. do we seriously have another one? will we get another chance like the last 2 years? or are we running out of time. we have already lost 4 players from this year next year.

Crossed my mind mate…05 was easy, we won by 30 every week (almost) bad precedent set by the boys. The last 2 years in the finals has certainly been a bit of a reality check.

It would be criminal to only win one comp in the era of Farah and Marshall, but it's a good chance of happening. They aren't exactly young anymore.

Pretty harsh guys. The boys have been great overall the past 2 years, We are turning into a winning football club with a winning culture. Only one team can win the prize, and we have been bounced out by small details the last 2 season's.

Some wonderful footballers go through their career never having won a comp. How many times have a big club like Parramatta been to the final 4 in the last 10-15 years and pulled up short? They are hard to win and we have been blessed to win one. Doesn't man we should be satisfied. However I wouldn't say 1 comp with "Benji and Farah" is an underacheivment. Missing the Top 8 is what for me is unacceptable.

Last 2 years have been great by and large. A football club's success shouldn't simply we judged on whether they won the comp or not. It hurts when you lose like this but we are a good footy club these days, and that makes me happy.

Spot on, we made the semi's twice in a row now, first time ever and considering the injuries we had this year, finishing 4th was an achievement in itself. We used what? 30 players?

It's so hard to win the dam thing, it just seems when we waste a golden opportunity like last night its never going to happen again, ughh 6am can't sleep its been on my mind now non stop. I hate what this team does to me

You have to make the final series to win the grand final and thats what we have done the last two years, okay we did not go on with it but gave it a shake. The club now looks to be in a very strong position to make a challenge again next year. Thats all you can ask for

yeah lots of very good players have never won one, Junior, Wiz, Blocker, Benny, be a lot of Magpie players as well.

Be great if we can send Ellis and Lote out winners next year though.

At the end of the day only 8 teams get the chance to play finals footy at win a premiership. Being 1 of those 8 teams is all we can ask for. The more times we make the finals the better we will get at winning them.

But to be in the top 4 for the last 2 years is a great achievement and hopefully we come back stronger next year and are in a better position come finals time next year.

Could be the only 1 although I think we will be a better team next year then this tbh - We will have a fit Lawrence and Tuqiri which I think would have made a difference this final series. Woods and Groat will be much better next year, Blair will bring a whole new dimension to our team and I think Joel Reddy will add a new safety at fullback but most importantly I see next year is Robbie Farah back to full fitness next year and Robert Lui getting better and better - to be honest I am expecting a top 2 finish next year injuries permitting

I hope i am not putting an albatross around the team's neck but we will be there next year no doubt about it. The dynasty Sheens referred to in 05 is finally happening. We may not win it every year but we now have pride in the team people wanting to play for us.

It also helps being one of the most marketable products in Australian sport. For that in itself, I love Sheens and the management over the last few years. It's this sort of thing that ensures you will be successful.

I hope not, but as the last 2 years have shown, to win a premiership you not only have to have the right team but a lot of other things have to fall into place. You have to have a good run with injuries and be hitting your straps at the end of the 26 weeks. Whenever they publish stats about how many players a club has used all season, it is those using the least number of players that are at the top of the table - it's about developing combinations and understanding.
For the Tigers to have achieved what they have in the last two years is a testament to the strength of our team, and for that we/they should be proud.
We'll give it another shake next year. Surely, it is our time to have a good run as far as injuries are concerned.

They are very hard to win, we will be there or there abouts for the next few years at least, hopefully we win won,

The opportunity to win one while the squad is together is a very short period of time. We have a world class hooker, five-eighth, centre and backrower, surrounded by very good players.

Many of the current squad may very well be in the best ever West Tigers team for many years to come.

There are 2 things that concern me. While we had a bad injury run this year, Benji has missed only a handful of games over the past couple of seasons. God help us if he goes down long term. We have also had little interuption around Origin time.

Also in the past 2 seasons we have played in 5 finals games. I think we have been the doiminant team in every one of them. However we have managed to be beaten in 3 of these games.

excellent post

I hope not, Farah and Marshall are once in a generation players and deserve to retire with AT LEAST 2 premierships. Both are 27 and 26 respectively, I'd say both have a good 5 years left in them and with them in your side, I suppose your always a chance. Seeing how well Darren Lockyer has played over the past couple of seasons has proved that you can still be a world class player, even so late in your career and I think Marshall can play well into his 30's and still be one of the best players in the world as well.

You'd have to admit, this year we had a golden opportunity to win a the comp, but I'm sure we'll get more opportunities in coming years, whether we can convert a finals berth into a premiership remains to be seen, being an optimist, I think we can.
