Will Hopoate

Shows the guy must have a lot of class . Must have got that from his Mum's side then .He is an outstanding young talent and he will be sorely missed by the NRL

Sad to see a star leave the game, but as he doesnt play for Wests I am not too concerned.
Maybe the lure of having more than one wife is just too strong.

Every time one of these stories comes up I can't help but think of Matt Stone and Trey Parker's masterpiece _Orgazmo_

Kudos to him. Classy move, by what seems to be a genuinely classy guy.

He'll be back in 2013, and any monies he loses not playing 2011/2012 he'll gain when the salary cap expands.

I remember at the end of 2008 Jordan Rapana (who was a gun for the Titans) went on a 2 year mormon mission would've been back at the start of this year, but haven't heard a peep about him. Hoppa will be the same I think, ah well, was nice watching him this year.

totaly stupid i think…y not do all this when his career is over...his uncle Albert (John's brother) did the same thing n planned to come back to footy n where is he now?...right now he has the chance to set himself up financially n do watever he wants when his footy career is over...stupid :crazy

That is a big signing for Joseph Smith.

With the new tv deal, why don't the NRL get a team playing out of Salt Lake City? Think of the backline, Hopoate, Folau, Inu…..not forgetting Ben Hannant up front.

Because in his mind maybe the lure of money and fame and not choosing his religion would be wrong . What do you reckon gnr4life what is the easy decision and what is the hard decision . The young man deserves ours and everyone in the NRL full support for making a selfless decision . Good on ya kid .

its not a matter of having to choose 1 over the other its just a way of accomadating both…he's only 18 he's still a baby he has his whole life to dedicate himself to his religion....im sure religion would still b there when he's 30

I don't think you see his point or mine . That the money and everything else won't mean anything if he chooses his sport over his religion , which he would be still doing even if he chooses both at the same time . My point is he is not stupid and I think you and anyone else needs to respect his decision . As I said what is the easy decision . Play Football . But he is sticking to his guns and choosing his religion . One will only be in his life for 15 years if he is lucky . His love of his religion will be there 4 life .

I actually saw that as well that one night… Not very good but funny in places.

Baseketball is another funny one by the same crew.

Ps - We should get back on topic..

I think he's making the right decision….
He can always come back
The kid has the talent.

Off topic:
Orgazmo & Basketball are kinda funny when you're younger but they lose their replay value as u age.

Go easy Stryker. I'm not religious but I will say it must take a committed person to walk away from million dollar contracts to do other things. Money dominates our lives and to snub a crapload of it to do something you find more fulfilling (be it spiritually or not,) no one can accuse him of being an empty person or a [This word has been automatically removed].

Whether it be for religion or something else the young bloke has shown he is his own person capable of making a tough decision based on where he wants to be, full credit to him IMO.

Wish I could of worded what i was trying to say as you just did CB x2 .

I'm not against people believing in a higher power or whatnot, but am savagely against any type of organised religion.

I dont agree at all with his decision, but it is his to make.
