Will Potter weild the axe?

So Lads.

It's one game in.

We were dead set exposed out there tonight vs Newcastle.

They have the potential to become our new Bogey team to add to our increasing list of bogey teams - (read - Broncos, Roosters, Bulldogs)

Potter did something interesting though - he HOOKED a player! Haven't seen it during the Sheens era.

So in the spirit of good discussion, do we think Potter will weild the axe as some of the performances out there were deadset disgusting?

I'm thinking Utai may not be back in a starting role. Miller was flat out awful, but think he may stay in.
Moltzen was terrible.

Bring in Tedesco and Nofoaluma methinks.

Would it be possible to start woods , bucho , keithy at once with Anastasia and b
Blair Playing outside ? Fulton and Anastasia can not both start . What u reckon underdog?

I think there has to be minor axe weilding. You cannot put in a performance like that and there be no consequence otherwise it is Sheens like

The Tigers should hire an axe sharpener after tonight

If Potter was dinky di that axe should be blunt by the time he is finished

I would lose alot of confidence in Potter if he went for wholesale changes.

Who knows what the hell happened out there tonight it was pathetic to be honest, but a reactionary clearing of the decks isnt the right way to go about it. Im not for protecting anyone playing poorly, tonights game was beyond poor, but it may be an opening for Potter to put them all on notice and take propper control of the team. It would be beyond me if there was ego's big enough within the playing group to not take the coaches direction now. Potter may not need to break them down out of an old system after that shambles, they should all be pretty open to suggestion after that…

We were hopeless and directionless, the errors were fundamental, the shape was non-existant and players totally exposed. I wouldnt give them the option of blaming a shake up next week for another poor game ie. men in new positions and such, but hammer them about the bumbling effort today, force feed them tape and the most basic of drills, and put them all on notice to see if you can swing the attitude around.

Lawrence was worse then Ayshford and was all of last season as well. We tend to look at him with sypathetic eyes because of the injury. Reality time is that he should not be selected on form

Shameful…

Utai, Anasta = HORRIBLE.

Did Utai even contest that bomb before he got hooked?
I wouldn't be unhappy if Utai got released tomorrow.

Pathetic.
Ayshford doesn't wanna pass the ball to him either cause he probably has no confidence in his ability.

Both our centres have sucked lately.
GOOD BYE

These players have had more than enough chances and the team if selected tomorrow will not improve. Give promiaing players who are not entrenched in the NRL Superannuation scheme a go but I very much doubt whether Potter will be courageous enough to do that. If he doesn't we picked a lemon coach.

Need a few changes but cant make alot considering 13 of those listed of the tigers website player profiles have not played an NRL game yet. Add to that Gavet and groat are out but neither have played much 1st grade. Throw in Simona and Meaney thats 15 with very limited NRL.

Changes need to made, but perhaps more positional then dropping.

Anasta and Fulton 2nd row doesnt work, to small, no impact in defence or attack.

Think miller needs time in reserve garde against big guys, learn to take control there and guide that team. Im not a huge Moltzen fan but halfback for him and Teddy to the back.

line up something like this:
1 Teddy
2 Reddy (maybe Nofo, but might to much inexperience on both wings there and fullback.)
3 Ayshford
4 lawrence
5 Koro
6 marshall
7 Moltzen
8 Woods
9 farah
10 Galloway
11 Blair
12 thompson
13 Fulton

14 Anasta- Backrow/halves
15 Pettybourne (prop rotation)
16 BMM
17 Buchanan (prop roatation)

Blair- to be considered a front rower. Play Off bench in short bursts in rotation with Woods, Keithy, Buchanan and Bell, with instructions to rip and tear each time.

BMM to start in back row with Fulton and Anasta and play in middle of ruck.

Ayshford to back row rotation, Simona to left centre and Lawrence to right centre to partner Nofo in place of Utai.

Ayshford off bench covers back line injury.

My two bobs worth

I don't think a knee jerk fix is going to work. If we get demolished like today against the Panthers then perhaps SOME changes are in order. As someone said earlier we aren't going to magically come up with better players. I think it was the general attitude that let us down more than anything tonight. Disappointing first hit out but I think its too early to wield the axe with much sanity.

Think he has to drop a couple of big names to make the whole "competition" of the off season mean something. Lawrence at least has to go that was one of the worst performances I have seen. How such a talented player a few years ago has got to this point, I just don't really get it. Utai probably has to go too even though I think Anasta is a decent buy you can't miss tackles like that and play first grade.

I am honestly with you Newtown, I dont think they will all fire nor all deserve to be there, but after a total and utter implosion like that there wont be a player on the roster that wont be looking deep. They will have to bounce one way or another, take on a seige mentality or crumble…

Unfortunately they have to wipe the game and hammer out some self belief in the squad as a whole... a bit of consistancy then change out the dead wood ( which there is a fair bit of). For example, as poor as Moltzen was, having Tadesco in there tonight wouldnt have changed the outcome. We self destructed all over the park, so there really is no benefit to being there. There is no use blooding young guns into a broken system, we want them schooled to perform not picking up poor play from that kind of shambles.
