Willie mason ???

Remember we did look at signing mason at the start of 2010 and it was only price that was an issue then so if he is cheap I think it would be a good signing after all their are much worse human beings in the game our halfback from last year for a start and he has at least never done anything badly wrong and at 30 and his last chance he will be more grown up. As for a bad influence if our club culture isn't good enough that 1 bloke can ruin it then it was crap to begin with

Assuming the medical is ok we have to be favourite then.

$400 more a week less tax probably won't even cover the petrol.

wow we certainly look strong on paper with willie coming off the bench and depth everywhere.

Willie has cleverly orchestrated his mate Braith to manufacture an extra competitor in the race by suggesting the Roosters should sign him and Sonny Bill. The Roosters won't do that but what it does (albeit poorly) is put pressure on those clubs negotiating with Wille to make a decision.

If we do sign him and he plays well will it change peoples opinion of him.
For me probably not but if he scores tries or makes breaks it will be hard not to like him if not for a little while.

how far away do you guys think Penrith is

the difference from concord to penrith outside of peak hour is about 35 mins and about 3 litres of fuel ( i do the trip 3 or 4 times a week)

people can say it is only $20k, but Im sure for most of us if we got a $20k pay rise it would be very hard to say no to

I said it before and I willl say it again, if Big Willie joins the Tigers, it will increase our chances for winning the big one significantly. He may be a peanut off the field, but who gives a flying fruitcake. As long as he gives my Tigers a better chance to win every game, I dont care. Bring on Big Willie, we will dominate with him in our team. GO THE TIGERS!!!!

I'll tell you what, The Big Willie used to be bloody quick. I never remember that part of his game?

If we do sign him Sheens needs to show him that clip from You Tube to remind him just how good he can be (without the extra yard of pace).

By the way, how good is it seeing Willie bash through Slater like he isn't even there @ 35 secs.

The more I think about it the more I'm hoping he signs with us. I can just see it now, a pic of him in his tigers gear during a press conference announcing he has signed with the tigers and the caption underneath the pic saying something like…..

"That awkward moment after years of calling the tigers over rated and weak, now talking them up as the best team in the comp only because you signed with them to win one last premiership."

Watching him eat humble pie would be priceless!

Hang on a minute..we supposedly couldnt afford to keep Gibbs who is in his prime & a proven & highly valued first grader, but we can afford to buy BOTH Mathew Bell AND Willie Mason,a couple of 30-somethings who havent shone for years(if ever in the case of Bell).
I simply dont get it,other than Sheens must have had enough of Gibbs antics(but is prepared to take a much bigger potential risk on Masons antics)
:wtf ??

U could buy a house with the leftover money from Gibbs' deal to that Bell and Mason are on.

It's a numbers game. If u think Gibbs deserved what he was on, given the strain on today's salary cap and the club already having players such as Marshall, Carah, Ellis, Lawrence etc, u got rocks in your head

yes but willy does drive a hummer …lol...

He carries on like a 14 year old boy on twitter. You'd think that he'd realize people are baiting him for a reaction and he gives them one every time. If he signs twitter has got to go.

Dont think so.
All of us are purely speculating of course,so I will as well…Bell was a regular first choice 17 player at Penrith ,& that puts him in the $80-$100k range absolute minimum. He was probably told he has no future there,so we may have got him for a little less than that
Mason was ONCE a $400k player only a couple of years ago,but the laws of supply & demand..well,there aint much of the latter.its only a guess, but $150-$180k wld top him out these days in the NRL.Remember he played rah rah for the Barbarians just last season(how i have no idea!)
Gibbs is a solid first grader,a notch up from Bell no doubt, but thats it..sometimes he was a run on player, sometimes like Bell a reserve...Im thinking maybe $200-$220k tops was what we were paying him.
Add 'em all up,& its pretty much an even trade..I know who Id rather have.

So you think Bell would be on about X, you reckon we'd have to pay Mason about Y, and you can't see how Gibbs was getting more than Z. And on that basis you're deciding who you'd rather have in the squad. Can I have your phone number? I've got some magic beans I want to sell. :unamused:
