Wingers Rd 1 2010

If fit i would have Topou & Tuaki but all the talk is TNT wont be fit until R.3 & Topou for some reason is being transformed into a forward So i think Brown & Ryan will get the nod

if TNT not totally fit in round 1 then have him on the bench, measure two things, one being match fitness, and two to see how the injury copes under match conditions.
he won't know until it is put under stressful conditions. eg having two or three opponents tackle him.
by round 3 he maybe match fit and ready to take his place on the wing.

Why the hell would would you want to mobe tnt to the forwards???…...dead set gun winger.

There is no no no no way Sheensie will move him.Would be ridiculous.

It would be ridiculous but he did have Morris in the halves for 2 and a half years..

I wonder why they are changing Tupou into a forward. Another big winger like Tuiaki would have been very good.

too many injuries for tupou me thinks which means a loss of speed. besides its always great to have a forward who has speed that excels most others. which is why i think that if tuiaki wont be able to regain up to 80% of his speed it is wise to move him to forwards where he started. though i dont think it will effect his try scoring ability as they are mostly lawrence doing a quick pass to him in which tuiaki steam rolls someone.

well last i heard from tiges was that he was ahead of his rehan schedule..

Appears there has been a re-assessment….

so if Ryan looks to have the frontrunning for 1 wing spot......Tui in rehab for a while yet....

I wonder Ayshford/Lawrence combo......?

id love to see that combo.. but id would take too much away from the other wing.

Sheensie doesnt want to but if the ankle isnt cut out for it, there is no choice but to move him..

dont expect to see TNT back to at least mid season.. that type of injury isnt something that heals in a set time frame… and its not an injury that heals 100%

you guys keep talking about tui losing most of his speed! Look he will lose a bit of it but not most of it, he will still be at his devastating best when he comes back. I had the exact same injury as what Tuiaki had, i only lost a small minority of my speed, that without the medical and physiopherapy team tuiaki has at his disposal.

As for moving him to lock or 2nd row…. why would you even think about doing that? It means hes closer to the action in defence, the opposition will most likely run at him more often, thus tiring the guy out. It would be a terrible move, and you cant say he would be one of the fittest in the club when he returns, after having the very much disrupted offseaason, puttin him back in the 2nd row would be suicide, he would not last very long because of his cardio endurance not being at a peak level. keep TNT on the wing :sign:

junk wingers to start the year. cant believe how restricted our backline is. at full strength it looks okay. a few inuries and we have junk to back them up.

What the hell do you mean by saying junk wingers to start the year,YOU OBVIOUSLY dont know much about talent or football , Can you explain about who your refering to and why.?

Beau Ryan - decent in spirts. not classy but works hard. nothing against him but not brilliant.
Mitch Brown - preffered as a fullback, untested as a winger.
Geoff Daniela - couldnt get a regular start at Penrith and SHOULD be playing park footy come the end of this year.
Josh Davis - not tested at first grade and is known more as a centre.
Rhys Pritchard - not tested at first grade and will be lucky to keep his spot in the Magpies.

If these are our choices for round 1 then my comment stands and is accurate.

I wouldn't hold my breath for an explanation. It's a pretty ridiculous statement to begin with.

Statement given and easily justified. People on here get way too wrapped up in unproven and/or out of position players we buy from other clubs or lift from lower grades.

Nah, crazy statement. Firstly, we have one of the best wingers in the league. Plus, wingers don't need a broad skill set compared to other positions. As long as players have speed, agility and good hands, I can't see it being such a hard spot to fill well with our depth. You only need to look at how well Morris (utility) and Ashford (used to be 2nd row) played when they stepped in for the para game.

For my mind too, if fully fit, Lazarus should be thrown into the winger mix. Especially with the fullback position seemingly tied up by other players.

More than happy for people to give decent rebuttal like this….but let me rebutt your rebuttal

Yes, Tuiaki is great, but im referring to him being out and trying to get 2 good ones from the rest.

Beau Ryan is okay but you dont want him being your best winger and the fact is no one else that we have is tested at this level OR at this position....let alone at this level AND at the position. All those mentioned other than Ryan will get found out by bigger, stronger, faster and more experienced wingers. If we dont have Ryan and Tui for the mass majority of the season on the wing we are goners.

Morris on the wing doing a good job??? I was at the game and I dont recall that. Yes he scored, but he also got run through and around and us not having our proper wingers on the field in the 2nd half was the sole reason we lost that game....and in losing that game, ended our season. Honestly, i thought this was fairly common knowledge and agreed.

Huge part of us winning the comp in 2005 was Richards on the wing. Watch the footage from the tries of 2005 and you will realise that a lot of tries he scored wouldnt be scored by any of the wingers on our list this year. Tall, strong, fast winger with good hands and the ability to read the game is crucial and hard to find. We dont have any of these.

Wingers are a highly underrated aspect to a winning team and all im saying is that we dont have this position covered well at all.

RHYS PRITCHARD 18th man in tigers last 2 games, played centre for NSW residents last year, leading try scorer for wests magpies state cup last year, best and fairest for wests magpies last year, currently training with first grade in tui"s position, fittest in the tigers club at present, has pace to burn, has bulked up as you would have seen the other night on summer time league, now i think next time you should do a little more research , and stop posting rubbish..
