Woods in Origin

NRLStats.com has Woods 10 hitups for 98 metres which is best forward on ground for metres per carry and only behind Gallen and Myles for total metres for all forwards. He was really good. Have to remember that in Origin he isn't the pivotal forward in the pack so he doesn't have to take 23 hitups a game.

Thought his first stint was very good. Does anyone know how many minutes he played? Seemed to only be on for 10 min in the 2nd half.

He had about 25-30 minutes in his second stint. Came on around the 55th minute and only went off in the last minute. They defended pretty much the whole time.

That ending was the biggest farce in origin history !
Shayne hayne did everything to give those red necks every chance of winning …. These dodgy refs must thing were blind !

Have to a agree, some of ref, s calls late in the second half were a little strange. Qld had everyone on their side.

The other thing was the 10 metres was thrown out the window pretty early in the 2nd half ,don't worry I thought we were encroaching far worse than NSW

Stupid thing was when the game was an arm wrestle they couldn't control the 10 metres and when the game opened up the players seemed to be back the 10

His first half stats .. 7 hit ups for 73 mtrs … Not bad for saying gallen is a ball hog !

Gallen a hog? Are you kidding? If Woods did what Gallen does, you'd be stoked. They were all great. But I've never been thrilled with Tamou.

Woods just seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time for the first 15 minutes But he kicked on after that….

We missed Thaiday and the biggest loss was Smith's running game when he injured his ankle

Woodsy did make a number of runs early on, but Farah didn't pass the ball to him.

Thaiday is underrated for his ability to lift the team, though QLD did look good in the last quarter i believe that were helped along by the refs.

I see NSW winning game 2 and the series

We looked good until we got inside the NSW 20 and then lost our way

Yeah didn't come out too well in regards to Woods (a couple of brewskis have been consumed )

Lost your way? Please! It was great defence, team work and passion that held you out. Not a loss of direction.

I thought he looked an Origin player this time….last time he was outgunned.

He fit right in.

The bonus is.....imagine how good he is going to be when he comes back to the tigers after Origin??

Im psyched!!!

Big step up from last year, but he was playing in a team that was rolling forwards. He will never be your rip and tear type front rower with a massive power game that we normally see in SOO matches, but he also makes yards through defensive lines that other players get stopped dead in their tracks. Also as we know from the Tigers, big engine and very strong defensive game.

He will be at this level for along time and playing a few games a year with a bloke like Gallen can only help him. I just marvel at how tough and competitive Gallen is.

Aaron really learnt from last year and looked fairly comfortable out there… He simply tried too hard last year and found his motor was up to that level.

Last night he picked his runs perfectly and most hit-ups were effective. Averaging 9.25m and making 23 Tackles is all you want from your Props in SOO.

Well Done Woodsman!

I thought both Woods and Farah had good, solid games. No real flashes of brilliance, but also no glaring errors. Farah benefited greatly by having others do their jobs in attack, so he didn't feel that he needed to create everything (like in previous years). Woods seemed much more at ease this year, and was used better by Daley.

The main thing is that I am extremely thankful that both came through unscathed. Looking at the injuries suffered by other teams (Melbourne especially), it is a huge relief that our boys are okay.

The thing that pleased me was he went over the advantage line on nearly every run not by heaps but enough to commit the defence..well done.

farah needs to stop those run around plays.

?????WTF????

Maybe you are right. Just because you train to do this at every training session and told by the coach to do this sometimes, it's time for Farah to stop this practice!!!

works better than gallen taking pointless hit-ups in the opposition 10, he does it to draw in defenders and try to go around queensland

Woodsy got a 7.5 performance rating in the Telecrap today, ahead of both Farah and Tamou and just half a point behind Gallen - not bad for a newbie to SOO, imo.

A few times Woods was ballplaying before the line

I hope he takes that back to the Tigers , we could use that now we have a lot of mobility with Gavet and Taupau much in the same way the Dogs do with that short sharp interchange of balls before the line
