Woodsy in origin

only got a short run again..
great in defence..
horrible in attack…

for the tigers he does alot of work, alot of hit ups, but he doesnt have that punch needed in origin...

his attacking game is going to have to improve massively if he's a chance for next years series.

His work rate is the best part of his game and he hasn't been able to showcase it. I don't think he'll be in the first choice 17 come 2014.

He only played 18 minutes I believe. What is he expected to do in that time? While Laurie Daley has anything to do with NSW, they'll never win a series.

He was blowing big time after 10min… He will be better & most likely ready by next year.

Eitherway, it was a great experience for him this year!

Tamou got a lot more minutes but wouldn't say he was hugely effective either. Fifita was by far and away our most damaging forward. Woods will be better off for the experience, and will hopefully be better prepared next year if he's good enough to be selected. Daley didn't give him a fair go IMO.

Yep, sadly Woods was a bit pedestrian. But whatever, Pearce was horrible, so when we talk about bad performances Pearce should dominate the discussion.

Re Woods: That 5th tackle play where Robbie gives it to him and he just goes into the line with no penetration without even looking for an offload is absolutely pathetic and I can't believe they brought that crap to origin.

The 6th tackle play is the kick play, therefore the 5th tackle play HAS to be the play where you pass the ball further than one off the ruck!

Someone explain to me why Robbie and Woodsy persist with this garbage?

We tend to forget that Woods is still very young front rower.
He will mature into a fantastic origin forward.

Cordner was given more minutes but I thought he was incredibly slow in defense & we would have benifited from having Woods on the field instead.

Agree with the Fifita comment , but Watmong was really good when he was on and NSW were chasing the lead late when I thought they might bring Woods back on

He struggled to make the advantage line and when that's happens you are always going to look bad

You also need to play wider of the ruck in SOO or the markers cream you as the ruck speed is slower

Woodsy concerns me the same way Skandos selection would of in SOO Speed issues

But as I said last night he is only young and he will learn a lot from the experience

How many minutes did he actually get?
Was it only the one spell, I cannot find minutes played stats anywhere.

See how he comes along. Merrin changed his game after Origin to suit the arena and has been a gun since

Woods and Tamou were both average in attack in the first 15mins, Tamou was out on his feet very quickly. But at least he got the chance to make amends and looked more settled later in the game.

Doesn't look good for Woods, NSW always wield the axe after a loss like that.

Watmuff and Bird made all the inroads with their runs. Tamou was better for his second stint.

Nobody's gonna do anything with 15 min of game time, just ask Big Red from his game. Especially when it's the opening 15!

They don't want to blow offside penalties so in the opening part of the game guys are screaming out of the line before the attacker gets the ball. Be nice to see him get a bit of action at the end of the game.

It's all part of the experience. Can't expect a guy to go into the highest level of his sport and expect him to shine straight off. I reckon every one of those props who played last night struggled to get a grip on the game in their first two games too. Woodsy though will take the experience and improve because of it. He will be back, i don't doubt that.

Matt Scott didn't

Woodsie reminded me of Farah when he first played origin - about 2 seconds too slow for everything. He will learn.

I think the speed is catching him out. There are very few props though that can handle the speed of origin. There's a reason why Myles, Watmough, Gallen and Parker are playing front row.

He is young and will be better for the experience. Don't write him off just yet, he will improve.
