Would you take Todd Carney at the Tigers?

For those who have answered yes I would like to see the list of players you would shed to get rid of him.

Remembering that it would take at least one 150k plus player to be onsold to bring him in

maybe Dwyers Long Term injury frees that up?

I didn't think that far ahead. I thought the question was just asking whether you'd personally like to have him at the club.

That said, wouldn't his indiscretions drag his price down again? Roosters picked him up for less than what he was worth because he is damaged goods.

1yr deal while simon dwyer is out.

then aim for an extension when players com/go end of 2012.

This current thing is such a beat up. Sure, they went against the clubs wishes, and makes a great story. But, there is not suggestion that they broke the law or were being louts, or anything, is there? They were having a drink, for Christ's sake.

Not at all. Not even for free.

If he's sacked by the Roosters, for continual indescretions- then the NRL should punt him- de-register him & throw him out.

I think it's funny that NRL clubs play the 'good guy' role & say that their good team environment will help seriel offenders like Carney, Taumata etc. By giving them 500 chances, you are not doing these guys ANY favours- you are, in effect, enabling their faults by continually saying 'better luck next time'. These guys will NEVER LEARN if you keep throwing them lifelines.

This is not a 'football' problem for these guys- it's a 'life' problem- they are not taking responsibility for their actions, and for the sake of a few extra W's in the results column, clubs keep giving them another go, positioning them in environments that not only enable, but quite often encourage drinking (team bonding blah, blah)- the one vice these guys obviously need taken away from them.

For Carney's sake, I hope he's sacked & forced into a change of lifestyle- take away the glamourboy lifestyle, make him live like the rest of us average Joe's. Make him responsible for himself.

Give me a team full of lesser talented, but more committed players anyday.

And add Miller to that, it's why he came to us in the first place.

No way I'd take Carney.

I would like to be wrong but maybe England would be better for him.

As an Englishman myself, I can assure you that England is not a good place to go for someone battling alcoholism.

YES…. He needs to be around a Club who manages its players off the field well, and I feel he can get that at the Tigers.

Im with Watto, if one of your kids was an alcoholic would you throw them into the gutter or would you try to help him.
I very much doubt they will sack him when all is said and done.

Nope. From a business perspective I believe Carney is bad for business. Yes he has talent, but he's also missing a Y chromosome and despite numerous counts of getting himself into trouble with the NRL and the Police, he still hasn't learned his lesson, nor do I think he will learn anytime soon.

One drink for these people is too much and and thousand is not enough. No thanks.

I'm not too sure about taking on carney…personally id like to just wait it out for miller to progress.
I think we have enough great attack in benji and robbie and lui goes good in attack too...i think we would have too many dominant play makers with carney on board.

Although if carney was to really knuckle down and get serious about footy then the only coaches that could handle him and develop him are sheens, Bennett and Bellamy...You could possibly throw in Hook(but he is only new so time will tell)...those three demend that their players respect them and the players have this type of respect where they feel indebted to these three coaches.
