@GNR4LIFE He could be upgraded still spots in top 30

Not by him though. He’s on a development contract.

So was Tommy Talau

I would hope we don't need Robbie, but I cast my mind back to Skando helping us get into 3rd spot in 2010.

Who made his debut in round 22. You aren’t helping your argument.

Just break the glass ...emergency Skando we need you

I guess the big difference was Skando retired health wise on his terms ....in Robbie's case the injuries retired him

@Elderslie_Tiger So if he chose to come back for one last season, would you be disappointed?

Yes because his best is behind him and as a lot of players have found out its better to go out a year earlier rather than a year late.

@rustycage inappropriate.
Contribute nothing to the discussion as always.

You bang on about it being ok for known women beaters being good for the club and team and consider those that don't agree with that assessmant to be "white knights." Then you jump in and bag me when I have a little light hearted dig at someone who clearly can't let go of Robbie Farah's retirement. Is this not the action of a white knight? There's a million similar posts to that one of mine littered throughout this forum. I must have really got under your skin for calling you out. Stay out of the sun. That thin shink skin of yours wont take it. What a hypocrite.

No. Farah's not needed. The club needs to move on. He's not all that good. Hope I dont hurt your feelings.

@rustycage This isn’t about me having issues with Robbie retiring, it’s a discussion thread.
It’s not as if our number 9 role is set, our replacement is out for near all 2020.
If LM signs he could add a massive spark to the playing group.
If we had that 9 role filled with a specialist, our spine suddenly looks deadly.
While some ppl may disagree- I feel the discussion of Robbie filling the whole he left for one more year has merit.
Statistically wise he had a good 2019 season as an individual.
If he thought he could go one more season, that in itself could add more belief within the players group.
Not to mention his experience, he could add strength to that role while not even accumulating and stats.
It’s nothing more then a thought, and I understand ppl will have different views, this is a forum.
I wish Robbie all the best in his retirement, but I know if he chose to go on for one more year at some capacity, I feel it would be a positive thing.
Even off the bench or for limited minutes.

Don’t think Robbie would even contemplate another season. You could tell he was suffering, especially towards the end of the year. Reading about the effort it took him to get on the park every week is insane .... and he’s not the type of bloke who would want to let the team, of the jersey, down.

It sure sounds great, Latrell AND Robbie!! But hows RF’s back injury? I don’t think he should risk it

I think Robbie will be to busy ambassadoring

I think he is still deciding if he wants to get on the drink with sponsors for $600k. Big decision.

We all saw Robbie talk about retirement and how he had come to terms with it. I really don't think he would put his hand up and I don't think we need him to. We have options so I'm a firm 'no'.

Would be an easy decision for me ?

@Spud_Murphy Who would be better then Robbie at the 9 for 2020?
Lots of ppl saying Reynolds or Mbye, when they most likely will not be wearing a tigers jersey for much longer, next season potentially could be their last season with the tigers.
I think 2020 will be a fill in year until we can get a quality hooker in 2021.
Therefore, I think Robbie could fill in and be effective.
Plus having him will only strengthen the group.

I see your point Chaos, we need a quality hooker playing in the 9 jersey and Liddle’s ongoing injuries are a constant source of frustration to him (I’m sure) and to the team overall. He was supposed to be our future number 9 years ago and for this reason we’ve never really ventured out to buy a proper hooker long term. We waited for him to recover and opted to get first McIllwrick and then Farah back from Souths in the interim instead.

Turned out to be a good move as Farah *is* a real hooker who just happened to love the Tigers and, even though he was at the wrong end of his career, he turned out to be a valuable asset to the team over the past year and a half.

That said, I think everyone including Farah himself, knows that his body is not up to the rigours of another full season and to be honest I think he could do some real damage to himself if he continued to play on another year. So sadly we are stuck, once again, with a long term injured Liddle on the books and no real dummy half to fill in for a major part of the year.

However, like others here have mentioned, I thought the swapping of Reynolds and Benji between 5/8 & dummy half worked really well for us at the back end of last season and I hope Madge will continue with that again to begin this season. I am a big fan of Reynolds for what he brings to a team, I honestly think we play better when he is on the field, so if he can finally stay injury free I am hoping that Madge will utilise him in this way in the top grade, rather than having him languishing in reserves - plus he is being paid a truckload of money, he needs to start earning it! I don’t like the idea of Reynolds being our full time rake, as like Farah, I don’t think his body could handle it either, so the swapping idea with Benji has more merit, imo.

On top of that we have signed Billy Walters, who by all accounts can play out of dummy half also. Plus there are whispers we are looking at Billy Britain, who is an outright hooker so we do have other options if the Reynolds/Marshall combo falters or someone is injured. As long as Mbye or Taylor are not put in the 9 jersey I think we will be ok, so no need for Farah to come out of retirement, imo.

By the way - he didn’t play with a broken leg - it was fractured, there is a big difference.

The rest of your post is spot on but a fractured leg is a broken leg so he did play with a broken leg!
