We need experience across the club from players to coaches. We also need specialist coaches for halves, and get the best defensive coach we can. At full strength we look good a few injuries we are very average.

After finishing 13th last year, our trajectory should have been to finish at least 10th, with a view to pushing for the top 8. After 15 years of no finals, you cannot paint any season where we finish lower than we did the previous one as anything else but a failure. Things won’t get any easier the next couple of years with two new teams coming in. We have a long long road to hoe.

Absolute fail, more then 15 years of no finals and no real signings for next year that will make me think we have any shot of finals. We went backwards from 13-15. I don't want to use Injuries as an excuse because every club had them this year and the good teams still made the 8. Need better recruitment in the middles because we have no real depth there.

Given our roster and commitment to the first 2 months this is our worst effort under Marshal so far.
He is dead lucky to have coached at this club. Any other and he’d be dragged in front of the firing squad during the next week.
2nd least amount of points scored in the comp.
2nd most amount of points conceeded in the comp.

They should all hang their useless heads in shame as they’ve embarrassed everyone for the 15th year in a row.

Fail. Bottom 3. We went backwards.
For the 2nd year running, a drama in the halves with one of them signing elsewhere was allowed to derail the season.
Couldn't get the edge defence organised.
The middle forwards too often overpowered.
The kicking and game management and 5th tackle options were poor.
Used several outside backs combos, they rarely worked.
Latu was wasted. Doueihi and Luai were given too much of what they wanted.

Wahs absolutely decimated by injuries to key players and still tied 1st with penrith. There is no excuse
Of course it's a fail. It's the only thing we are consistent at.
There is never a solution. This "club' has not made finals for 15 years worst performing club in the competition - yet the coaches and players that come through can go to other clubs and find success - we play against our rejects and those who choose to get out every week, and we remain in the same or worse position.
You can keep turning them over - pick your targets to blame - but the constant remains - a club that fights against its self - under the control of those who put self interest ahead of success.
There is never a solution. After an incredibly draining season, I'm surprised to say that I'm actually optimistic about '27.
Okay. Just read what I wrote, and pretty sure I say this every year... 😐
I know it was hard, but I really think there is a lot to be optimistic about:
- They have really missed TayMay and KPP. Add those two back into the side and they're a completely different beast.
- Luai signing with PNG, and the club offloading him to Parra is a massive win imo. Even if it costs them $500k, they are free of that drama and the rest of his $1.2M can/has been used to re-sign others. Unfortunately Luai wasn't the player they hoped he'd be, but cutting him loose is excellent roster management - something sorely lacking in recent times.
- I'm sure I see what most just don't, but I really think with the right players in the side (ie., without Luai and AD), Bula is going to become an absolute weapon. It's no coincidence that when KPP went down, so did Bula's attacking involvement.
Unfortunately it was another season with no one able to put him in space, and another he's spent running all game trying to cover for a poor defence.
He isn't a Walsh or Ponga type fullback, but in a team with actual playmakers, he would really show his true value
- They've let Toa go. Big fan of his when he is on, but he is never on...so... Win.
- Saukuru has started really well.
- Andrews and Latu are really promising. Roberts and Sukkar I think will be good depth and will come into their own in time.
- Makasini can definitely become a very good nrl centre if brought in correctly. I think he will benefit from the experience this year, and will be brought back to earth somewhat without so much expectation on him next year.
- Marshall hasn't had a great year, but in fairness he is a young coach who has had to deal with a LOT. Possibly some of it his own doing, but he handles the media well and has a calmness to him I like. He doesn't get rattled, and having one of the toughest jobs in the nrl, I think that's a good sign.
Disappointing stuff:
- it seems every year inevitably brings new dramas to the tigers. Luai might be a great guy in person, but no matter how you look at it the results onfield have barely improved. And both years he was here he was the cause of, or heavily involved in, major disruptive issues.
- AD has to go. I don't care how contrite he is, he is holding the team and younger players back. I'd seriously be happy to give Latu and Andrews a long leash with Madden as backup/contingency in the 19. The off-season is the perfect time to limit the noise and tell him to bugger off.
- They are in dire need of better depth players. With PNG and the Bears now factoring, it looks like the only place they'll get them is from within, so I sure hope they can find them
- Makasini had nowhere near the year I'd hoped. But as I said above, I still think he will be really good.
- I'd give Marshall a slight pass this year, but still can't accept selecting Doueihi when he did. I was really disappointed by that - to me it made all his "standards" talk seem like bs. I don't know the inner goings on, but surely playing him in nsw cup for 1 week was the right choice.

2026 was a fail, on many fronts, no question. There was a lot of talk of standards and accountability at the start of the year which showed promise but they got swamped in their own mid season drama courtesy of Luai and Douehi and quickly fell to pieces with little consequence. Our team is so fragile and vulnerable to adversity. I hope they can find a way to endure when things don’t go to plan and build their resilience skills in the off season. Whatever happens with recruitment and bringing the young kids through, above all else, please give us a season clear of drama and keep us out of the news in 2027.

We beat 4 teams in the Top 8 ....been a long while since that last happened
Everything else was completely unacceptable....so many things need to happen and they won't for a long time

I said before we cant go worse...im sure we can if things dont change.
I like the positive posts and I do see that pov a lot of it makes sense...but we saw some real footy IQ in the opposition today and we have none of that...juniors take years to get it if ever

It’s amazing how people see things differently.
Saukuru has started really well? I don’t think I’ve seen a less deserving player in first grade since Makasini earlier this year. These kids cannot tackle nor catch. They are miles away from being first graders who actually contribute. They are way, way…way out of their depth.
Bula has had an unfair amount of chances. He does not play with the courage nor the commitment of an NRL player. He just jogs around like a lazy bastard, always a step too late. If we had anyone else who could catch a bomb…which is the only thing he does well…I’d say piss him off - this off season.
You would give Benji a slight pass this season? Why exactly? He has no balls at the selection table. He holds no one to account who is a part of his circle jerk. A player refused to play for him this year and after the team got flogged, Benji picked him the very next week. The bloke is an astonishingly poor coach with a ridiculous record who never gets better. He is a good talking head and that’s it. Same as his lovechild Luai. The two clubs who featured worse than us this year had coaches sacked recently and are rebuilding. Benji is the worst performed “settled” coach in the NRL and this club will not see success until he is removed. The evidence is as clear as day.
Yeah the F off out the door speech at the beginning of the season lasted about 10 minutes.
You are spot on about Bula. You can see he has talent, but he is so damn lackadaisical on the field. I’d like to think he is doing things well off the ball such as organising the defensive line, but our defensive line is mostly atrocious so I can’t even credit him for that. The Greg Inglis mentoring last season didn’t seem to do much for him, playing wise at least.
It’s funny fullbacks like Connor Tracy get a lot of criticism, but every time I’ve watched that guy play, he plays with intensity, speed and commitment. Sure he’ll make some mistakes and he’s not the most talented, but at least he has a go, which is more than I can say for Bula. I’d rather a fullback like him or Dufty, Jye Gray, Kini or Cody Ramsey, smaller guys who put their bodies on the line and play with some intensity week in, week out.
It took less than one season for things to fall apart after the departure of Richo. I thought at least we would see one decent year, but only got 7 rounds which was great at the time and heart breaking when our season fell apart.
There is nothing else I can say. I really want Benji to suceed but it's hard to think next year we will win more games then this year. I feel numb because I don't see anything changing until HBG sell or adjust the governance framework again.
