Your Favourite All Time Tigers or Magpies Player

You could talk about this for hours. Here are my thoughts:

These are only a few of the players that would make me go to the footy just to watch them play

Balmain:
Arthur Beetson
Keith Barnes
Steve Roach
Larry Corowa

Western Suburbs:
Noel Kelly
Peter Diamond
Tom Raudonikis
Tony Ford

Wests Tigers:
Benji Marshall
Robbie Farah
Pat Richards
Brett Hodgson

By far the best of all is Benji Marshall. He changed the game. I have no doubt that one of the reasons Wests Tigers is everyone else’s second team is because of Benji. Kids wanted to be Benji. The speed off the mark, the step, the flick pass and the no look pass. He was just mesmerising.

Benji for mine is the best player in the NRL since 2000. Since Mal even.

At his best he’s up there. Consistently he’s no in the top 20.

True that. Ill go with Benji as the most influential then. Leave consistency to Smith and Cronk.

Sirro. Idolised the guy as a child. Went to a WT members day quite a few years ago now and spent more time with Sirro who was doing a Balmain Juniors BBQ fundraiser than any of the Wests Tigers guys. The missus couldn't understand it.

Darren Willis. Played more games for Wests than anyone else in the 90’s.

And there's one particular night game that stands out!!!!

Which one?

Younger bloke so definitely Benji, but love watching ol Benny Elias, would’ve loved to watch him live in his prime

As much ast I hated him boy he could play. A NSW great.

Not my favourite player, but still a footy legend, I'm gonna have dealings with Olsen Filipaina today...looking forward to that...

Benny Elias was a highly skilled hooker. He was small in stature but nuggety and tough. He was also highly elusive and had a wonderful dummy. Definitely the Tigers (not Magpies) second best ever hooker after Farrah.

Agree, he's definitely a legend. He had legs like tree trunks, unusual for a five eighth, and he was often impossible to tackle!

Which one?

At a guess the 50m field goal to beat the Bears

I thought so too, but that was Andrew, not Darren.

In all the games I saw him play it was at centre - maybe played a couple of games at 5/8 but that's about all. Should have played for Western Suburbs rather than Balmain. Always played better when wearing black and white than black and gold.

Just my opinion and a difference on how the game changed over the years.

I think Benny (and I hate the guy for what he did as much as anybody) was the best hooker in the game not just the Tigers. Thought he revolutionised the hooker roll, run from DH, chip kick etc. Things that others copied and took credit for.

Now if you are talking Dummy Halves - Farah is undoubtedly the best WT ever had.

Don't think Farah would have stood up to the old hooker role though.

Was that the game against Norths when he kicked a 48m field goal to win?
