YOUR JOB?

dear everyone again.

well, its been quite an eventful last few weeks for this little wtfer… after a week or so of being in my new (temp) job, i received a phone call from the principal civil engineer at a brisbane company i had been interviewed by for a role a couple of months ago.

the role was exactly what i could have hoped, as the company needed someone to do exactly what (i consider) my strong points are as a civil designer - the Digital Terrain Modelling software used and working in a lead role within a design and drafting team - and the projects they work on and company values really mirror what i love about my career; improving infrastructure and civil design with a strong importance placed upon local cultures and ecosystems.

the projects they anticipated being signed off on didnt come through in the time they had thought, and so their employment process was put on hold. but after a few calls keeping me in the loop, on friday i received a call and was told that they had gained projects, and had been given the go ahead to offer me the job.

i got the contract and role description today and in four weeks time i will be in my new role, in my new life in brisbane. after two years of applying for jobs, doing everything i could in the mean time, i finally have my career back!

itll be hard to leave the petrol station (*coughs*) but i am very excited, happy and grateful things have turned out as they are now. ive had amazing support from my family and friends, and would like to say thanks again to all of you for your kind words and thoughts.

 :sign:

Great Stuff Turnstyle..sounds brilliant…but please remember to get the necessary inoculations and booster shots...

I write for film and TV. Industry has changed a lot in past 10 years, there's no 'full time' jobs on Tv shows anymore - we are all freelance. But I can manage my own time, (can work at night) and so look after the kids etc. Best job in the world if a bit insecure financially sometimes.

PS - Found all this really interesting. Good idea Demps

That film you wrote recently, where can I see it as I see the trailer for it and looks like a good film

Cheers Westy! Am actually in Edinburgh for UK premiere of the movie called 'Cut Snake'. Been good response so far. Fun town. Just back from Manchester where I saw Matt Bowen in the shopping mall, no being recognised or mobbed (still looks pretty fit!). Thanks, here's the trailer. Out in Oz soon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IsEprtJXA4

Nope not bad at all. When it comes to Aussie films I also am generally not a fan for a good reason…...They generally suck. However this one looks like it could be alright.
