I read in the DT yesterday that the Tigers are considering Chris Lawrence in the centres…........I don’t know how much truth there is in that but interesting if true

Interesting? Stupid more likely! Lawrence has the lateral movement of a cruise ship! He'll end up too isolated in the centres and be easily beaten by the opposition's speedy backs. He's made the move to the forwards and needs to stay there, imo.

This is what I see happening after watching the trials. Not 100% sure about Taylor´s match fitness to start at hooker and possibly not the right bench to cover an injury in the backs.

Was so hoping for Lolo and Milne to be there but can´t see that they are ready. Those two in the side with Liddle and I think we can play. Happy to know we have around 1.2mil more to spend on that squad.

Uncertain of Benji's, Taylor's and McQueen's fitness levels so have deliberately left them out.

Wasn't real impressed with Packer and Matulino's fitness in last weeks trial either, tbh. It's a bit of a worry if they are supposed to be our mainstay props, but hopefully they were just playing conservatively because it was only a trial. Grant and Felise showed much more energy and aggression, imo.

I would like Tui in the team but unfortunately I can't find a place for him. Thompson was too impressive at fullback not to be chosen.

I think Tui should be our FB, Thompson should be on the wing if you want to go by Trial form of which i don't take a great deal of influence from. Tui has shown us some form last year in the real arena and we need to embrace a confidence player like him.

Thompson deserves first crack due to his trial form
This will also spur Tui on to train harder
No to kevvy for me
I think a centre pairing of Masters Milne could be Quite lethal in attack and defence if given the chance to proove themselves
They look alot stronger than kevvy

One thing to look for this season is if Nofoluma is able to improve his defence
Didn't Nightingale score a hatrick against Nofo last season
Its funny isnt it because I don't think many would pick Nightingale over Nofo
It needs to improve or he may even look at a positional change
Maybe Milne to wing and Nofoluma to centre
Just a thought

Based on what Ivan and a number of others have said about trial form, fitness and attitude, this is the team I would pick. I like the new regime where performance is rewarded although I share the same concern that some have about a team without Tui's play making. Therefore, I will put him on the bench with Benji missing out due to his absence and resulting lack of form. I also hope that, in the long term, Milne secures a spot as I see a lot more upside in him than Kev. Ditto Fonua over MWZ.

Pretty pointless naming your own team I find. What you want is usually irrelevant and a waste of time. Better off picking the side based on what you think it will be.

Dummy Half is a big concern, but he will squeeze in Taylor, Lawrence, Rochow & Aloiai as he knows all will give there all.

McIllrick is very much like Lolohea. He will get the first few weeks to show his 2017 form until Liddle is ready.

Aloiai will switch into Prop rotation once McIllrick comes on.
