I don't think we walk away on the bloke until his court case is decided. We still have a duty of care to him as a prospective contracted player - if he's convicted then it's a different story but until such time or otherwise…

What if this goes beyond 30 June? NRL not us refuse to clear his contract. Duty of care then is their responsibility not ours. He has never been cleared to play with WT by the NRL, tell me who do you think has the duty of care in this situation?

Lets wait to see what happens with the court case …..

If innocent lets see what has opened up on the market at that stage

@happy_tiger can you update me in about a years time once the victim, offender, jury and legal system have decided they have enough time to hear the case.

That is without the grubby lawyers laughably referred to as representatives of the victim and defendant who will drag the case out for as long as either party or legal aid continues to throw money their way.

Wait until the court case has been concluded. Not sure when this will be or aware of the full details of his charge. While it is certainly something we would rather not have to deal with he is innocent UNTIL he is proven guilty. In Justin's absence Im sure someone at the Tigers have had a heart to heart with him about the case to make a judgement on if he is worth retaining for the long term benefit of the Club.

@gallagher i am sure the release would have been based on a contract with another club, and the amount of his current contract that club was prepared to subsidise.

So now that there is no other club that can register a valid contract, no subsidy and the player potentially has no income other than the difference that souths were prepared to pay, why would any release document be valid?

Will await a reply from those on the forum that suggest they are legal experts with an understanding of legal precedents and years of background in the industry.

Not sure about the release document. I'm saying if he's convicted and we no longer want to sign him then Souths will probably sack him with good cause. I cant see them being inconvenienced at all by this.

So when a player gets injured for five months, the club gets no compensation to sign another player (unless it's six months I believe), so then they should go out and be assault a woman or a child, be charged with a criminal offence, and the club can be compensated for two thirds of their value.

Hitting another man is won't do, unless maybe it's a coward punch when the man is not looking, that might get you charged and get the cap compensation.

Then when the injury is healed, get the charges dropped (it was all an inside job anyway, and the victim/assistant gets paid off handsomely) and the NRL has to reinstate the player.

So one player gets injured, get another for free, and when the injury is healed keep both. Sounds like a great idea Toddy you nitwit.

Is Zane's case any worse than Dylan Walkers, who got stood down for 3 months. My thoughts are from reading the Walker case with a number of witnesses involved that we may be looking at lesser penalty and have him sig ned in time.

They might be treating Musgrove more harshly because his charge came virtually straight after the resolution of previous charges he had faced. Who knows…

He has plead not guilty so innocent till proven guilty and that appears the way the club is looking at the situation. Hopefully it moves along quickly as its in the courts next week…

I think it's good we now have official confirmation around the issue @Fraze23

If he is found not guilty we should stick with him if guilty drop like a cold pie..next

I figure that was what we should do. Just leave it up to the court to decide. The problem is if it comes back a grey area. He is guilty but they hardly punish him because they think it really wasn't that bad. I mean this isn't like DeBellin is it.

To me it’s a easy call and especially as he is the type of player we need, innocent he stays, guilty he is gone, and of course the NRL will probably rub him out anyway if he is guilty.
The cap maybe the only stumbling block if he is innocent

Fair shout mate, I was just trying to stir you. I'll have to pick my game up.

Should be a fairly easy decision for the club. I think he's back in court next week?

I know innocent until proven guilty and blah, blah, but both of these guys have history and I think they will both be rubbed out for a while. When charges of DV come up against a person more than once, it's likely they are actually guilty of doing something unsavoury.

Do you have daughters Earl..?

And what do we do if the court adjourns the case after further hearing matters? Do we get salary cap relief? Where does the NRL stand on the 30 man squad rule by June in these circumstances?
