LIVE GAME Round 6 vs. Dragons

Live Game Discussion
This is true. No one on the roster is close to either Bateman or Papalli on the edges.
We simply have to try Fainu in place of Papalii. Papalii can play prop to replace Klem for a week, or go to the bench. Papalii is not a back rower anymore, he's stated he wants to be a prop, and he's playing exactly like a 40-50 min prop. We can't compensate for him out wide any longer. I'd definitely be looking to release him next season unless his form picks up.

With the squad we have we need every player to have a 7/10 performance we were just off tonight it was such a lethargic performance we got monstered.
I thought Benjis presser summarised it well. Our worst performance, we practice a certain way, we want to be tough in the middle but you need to be in the right head space every week to make that happen. And with only moderate back up we need all our “guns” firing. Currently only API each week, others float in and out.
Let’s see if we can implement that in the coming weeks

From your perspective. Compare the names in our top 6 pack compared to every other pack in the comp.....
So our top 6.
Utoikamanu, Koroisau, Klemmer, Bateman, Papalii, Pole?

Our 9 is as good as any, better than most. But this is countered with the13 as poor as any, worse than most.
Despite the criticism of them on here, i believe we've 2 decent enough backrowers. However id not be able to rate them as better than any other club. I'd suggest just about every club has one better than either of our 2. (Nikora, Katoa, Young, Nanai, Kaufusi, Martin, Capewell, Olakuatu, Crichton, Piakura, Sua, Frizzell, Kikau, Fifita, Koloamatangi). A lot of clubs also have a 2nd as good or better than either of ours.
That leaves our front row pairing. Again our two are decent enough but hard to see many teams they are clearly better then. Dogs the only obvious pick. Could make a case against Rabbitohs, Titans, Dragons and possibly Sharks. Thats about it.

So i see our top 6 forwards as worse than most. How do you see them?

Great answer Greg.. Maybe you are right.... we have names without souls. I guess I was only looking from the perspective of paper.

Out of curiosity, what was the curtain raiser for sunday's game? I think both cup and flegg played elsewhere? I'm still astonished at the complete lack of professionalism shown through the management of our lower grades.

The real worry is that we didn't do the basics !
Ball security .Crisp passing ,Locking up their ball carrier ,kick chase and no silly penalties
We were poor at all these
Note we play Penrith at a country venue next Saturday where WE ACTUALLY BEAT THE PREMIERS LAST YEAR !
reason was we had an amazing 90+ % completion rate in pouring rain and tackled our guts out .Looking at all the dropped ball and bad passes at Campbelltown its hard to see where we have progressed .
Last 2 weeks we had the " no dummy half play the ball and this week we twice couldn't take a quick 20m restart because not all players got back behind the line
These are the types of blunders that are very reminiscent of the last few years

Its not us.. its them.. let them worry.. they be getting paid the big dollar......we do our part as you have witnessed from all our fans far and wide.....

Don't disagree with those thoughts. Definitely need to get Fainu more time, and maybe try to squeeze in an early release for Matamua and replace with a solid enough back rower from somewhere. I'm assuming current work to fill the remaining vacant squad position is for a speedy, tall backline player.

Edit I wouldn't be surprised if Bateman finished up end of season and heads back to ESL for a swansong. His family is there and he obviously misses them and wants to be with them. Noting his long absences in off season to visit, which does disrupt our preparations.
