Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It’s especially confusing giving said player was released 2 years early from his contract. Pretty rare for a club to let a player go under contract if he’s a special talent.
True, but were not talking a big signing here. Were talking Starford Toa.

I remember when Cleary was doing all the big name signings then we signed a nothing hooker from New Zealand. Guy played a few games alright, wasn't first grade level but filled in the gap.

That's all Starford is meant to be. But yes it is rare for him to be released so early. Particularly as the Knights lost Conner Watson too, they must have wingers coming up that they trust. Hopefully he isn't a troublemaker, I suspect it's just a case of the Knights paying him to much and they have punted him.

Starford will keep Nofo on his toes he does the dirty hitups has a good bump and fend can change direction at speed has alot of good qualities about him but I did notice a few times turning his back on attacking teams and they came down his side to score a try or make a break

Idk. He could probably slot into the centres seeing how weak we are there.

Star To'a was one the top juniors in the country 2 years ago. An elite attacking player. A dozen clubs after him.
He may have had an injury or two, and maybe thought success would just happen for him.
He's signed as a youngster who'll be pushing for a start in round one. None of our backline have a guarantee. He's far far superior to the likes of cini, Hoffman, kepaoa, pauga who've been our backup depth in recent years. Which is one of the reasons why our squad is much stronger this season than last year

Every day that goes by I lose a little bit of confidence in our pack.
It's starting to smell a bit like a titanic movie, and we haven't had covid interruptions and injuries during season proper to deal with yet.

I can wait,

Its coming though.

This forum will.erupt for the wrong reasons if the team fails.to take the win against a depleted Melbourne
There will be an eruption either way. Either cos 6 months of build up (which is like nothing I have ever seen on this forum) will lead to a wet fart, or there will be an eruption over us beating a half strength Storm side. Which eruption will it be? Place your bets.

bigger than beating a second string penrith side

A wins a win. At the end of the season points on the table will be the only thing that matters. By rounds 6-8 we will know what the season looks like

There's no more than the usual pre season expectations... every year I've been on this forum people get irrationally excited for the season despite us being favourites for the spoon.

Pre seasons turn bad teams and players into good ones in peoples brains 😂

Idk, nothing like this season imo. People getting way too excited over probably the weakest off season recruitment of any team in the comp.

I get what you’re saying but we will be more depleted than then when it comes to squads and players out. That aside anyone who has high hopes needs will have a hard reality check by round 6 I think.

Gotta have hope and I have more than usual with the changes that have been made.

Major overhaul of the footy department bar the head of coaching, though substantial change there as well with Cayless, Gardiner and Kimmorley's remit extended to working there to begin with. Defence will undoubtedly improve.

Then we look to our roster changes and even with the question marks over how they will perform, surely got to be better than those replaced and alluded change to lock role should help our attacking shapes as well.
