LIVE GAME Trial 1 v Manly

Live Game Discussion
First half is really all we should be judging, the 2nd 40 was a mess of juniors everywhere.
First half want too bad I guess for a first hit out.... Obvious signs still need work, our PCMs in D still need lots of work, they rolled thru us.... We really ask no questions in attack, I really started to lose interest again very quick.... Was hoping for better but didn't see it but yeah always next week.... As Tamou said all. They. Attempted to do. was put some processes into play.. Didn't see. Much difference
Toa looked OK... Gildart not bad... The young hooker was busy and very noticeable.. LL pretty good... Mikaele too a good game. Bar him falling asleep. At marker for. A. Manly try

He's not the only one.

Tamou said, Madge has changed nothing in his approach to training and structures.

The fans are in for some heartbreak this year.
Negativity is like a contagious disease. When one player is negative, either by his actions or demeanor, it quickly spreads to another, and another, until every player is infected.
The whole club has become infected. [As with it's supporters]
More often than not, the way to curb this rot is to bring in coaches and players who have not been infected.
Jackson, To'a, Gildart etc.
The last trial with a new group injecting fresh thoughts and actions is what this club needs and can give us some momentum.
Unfortunately there is still a bit of cancer remaining at the club. Let's hope new players and coaches can inject a workable vaccine into our system.
We can only do what we can control and that goes with us forum members. Losing brain cells over a player you don't like [Brooks] is good to express yourself but not continually beating yourself up over it. It just peeves readers off and becomes boring.

And our squad as a whole are atrocious at handling high kicks, we would get dominated in the air 19 times out of 20. It's a brain-dead tactic, trying to score through one of the weakest aspects of your game.
Certainly without Maumalo and Doueihi as targets, or even Roberts for that matter.

As I wrote earlier, only know what I have read here, but annoying to read that th coach is still prioritising that particular play. It has it's place and is effective through Brooks, though maintaining such predictable play is unlikely to take our WT forward this season.

Gee, that was disappointing - Brooks looked as clueless as ever!
Madden is as slow as a wet Leichhardt
The only promising youngsters for me were:
Austin Dias, Thomas Freebairn and Joseph Taipari (best)
Freebairn is 27 and about to start his 6th season in reserve grade. I wouldn’t put him in the promising youngster category.

I thought our attack looked ok in the first 40, especially with Peachey doing some ball playing. Going to be very interesting to see how it goes with Hastings added in. The big worry for me was our defence. Still being rolled up the field with ease, still lacking line speed. The less said about the second 40 the better. Was impressed by both Taipari and Rua. Both not first graders yet, but there is potential.

It's hard to get a proper gauge on trials as none of us know what sort of training the boys have been doing up until game day. They could have been flogged on Wednesday for all we know. Having said that, the second 40 in particular showed we are seriously lacking in depth.

I don’t see much value in Peachy. Again, a player who would have really been something had we signed him 3 or 4 years earlier.

My take is that at this point we are relying on him being a ball distributor at lock but I worry we will get rolled up the middle. I think we have to wait and see how he goes prior to writing the signing off.

Yeah this is a huge concern.
We will lose players to further injury this year.
We will lose players to Covid this year.
Some of these guys will have to step up at stages.
Every team will be in the same boat though. It will be an interesting year as far as seeing how good other clubs depth is. And all of the depth players will be coming off practically 2 seasons of no lower-grade footy.

Lol just saw the replay. A very safe bet for every game against Tigers would be to put the other teams L sided winger/centre as FTS🤣

Garner looked very slow in cover.

We will be doing a lot of scrambling this year!!

Brooks got shown up by Madden...

Nofo got shown up by some 0 first grade rookies.

The pack was abysmal.
Stefano dropped the ball twice and played the fake hurt card.

They didn't play well at all....

True.
I thought season 2021 was the worst I’ve seen quality wise in many many years…maybe exceeding a decade.
The premier clubs handle player dropouts so expertly that the gap will continue to widen to clubs like ours who can’t keep up.
The factors we‘re discussing here could produce a product not worthy of NRL status this year.

Hey guys if you have the abilty to watch the game again and go back to the start where WT are running onto the field.
Have a look at big Stef, he has a grin from ear to ear...priceless
