NRL Tackle: Paul Crawley’s likes and dislikes from the first week of pre-season trials

The result of the first half indicated the disparity of the 2 teams - As it was at the end of last year.

What was more worrying, Is the depth all the other clubs seem to have is probably on Par with the back end of our starting squad.

Joffa, Twal etc. Should have rolled that B squad... The fact they were bested is what is scaring me...
Our next crop of Tuki, Seyfarth etc... Seem a million miles away atm.

Crawley's mistake isn't judging Tigers by the performance, because it was average, but to think trial form has any projection whatsoever on the outcome of the season.

Only 2 of last year's Top 8 won their trial last week, plus two draws.

We all know Tigers smashed Manly last year's trial, and although Manly did start slowly in 2021, they were a premiership force for most of the season.

It's pointless to do anything apart from looking at individual performances and being thankful for a low injury toll.
 
I read the article posted by Lauren (thanks Lauren) with Paul Crawley, literally, when I was sitting on the toilet. I wouldn't give that bloke or many other DT journalists a minute of my actual productive time.

Devoid of facts. Full of fiction and opinion (I mean seriously, who couldn't make that crap up), and I wont ever subscribe or click on their pages.

I heard Frothfield on radio yesterday carrying on about the captain thing. Don't these gimps get their knickers in a knot when they don't know. Doesn't matter that club may well know, but geez they hate being on the outside.

Manly did carry that trial form into the season proper - after 5 rounds they were 1 and 4 with a for and against of 47-168
Tom came back and they started flogging teams starting with Titans and closely followed by Tigers.

I am appreciative of his (and Buzz's) work. It saves me spending my cash on their newspaper. If it was proper reporting, without bias or angle, I probably would. Saves me a fortune each year.

Trial wise - we smashed Manly last year, didn't make one iota of difference in the season. Our 1st half looked better than our second against the dogs at the end of '21, so we're moving in the right direction.

They didn't slam the other teams for not announcing a captain till the trials
 
At the risk of attracting attention from the self-appointed forum grammar compliance dude, I have to say I agree with Crawley's' comments about Sheens and the loss being underwhelming and uninspiring, I don't like to agree with him but we should have concerns about the game.

Most teams didn't run out close to full strength....
 
What's to agree with though? He hasn't come up with any earth-shattering news that we all didn't already know about TBH.
'It would be a major shock if the Tigers make the finals'. Most people on here if realistic were thinking the same thing even before the Manly trial anyway.
'DCE took Luke Brooks to school'. Massive news! An Origin and Test halfback playing in a top 4 team outplayed a bloke who is struggling and plays in a bottom 4 team.

And he rabbits on about Sheens this, Sheens that- like Tim is the head coach of our team all of a sudden. Do we even know if Sheens was at the game? Can't recall seeing him on the coverage.

The guy just looks for any excuse to put the boot in the club. We are a rabble and have been for years but Crawley the goose is like a wannabe tough guy booting an unconscious bloke in the head on the ground.

Hope the club remembers all the crap this bloke has written and said and just laughs in his face when we start to have some success and this pathetic maggot comes sniffing around wanting to jump on the inevitable bandwagon.

Been banging on about it for years, how about the club set higher standards and this noise will go away.

Success feels like a long long way off. Crawley might be old and demented when that finally happens.
 
Have not even got to round 1 and they are on us again...
No mention we had players out and up to about 1 min prior to HT we were right in it even though we were not playing well .. Also had 2 tries taken off us..
Him, Buzz and Hooper do not even mention how this club seems to be building nicely with the COE, Signings 2 top line players still in prime in Pap's & Api, Record memberships and a club that is making money..

How does he even have a job because we all know why we get picked on is because we have a massive following / click baits.. Fox is now unwatchable these days
