Not sure Johns will be available - they will either use Meaney at 5/8 or bring in their 3rd string 5/8. Either way their replacement FB or 5/8 will be well down the pecking order. I was impressed with Wishart but then again Newcastle were pretty ordinary. And Ponga??? Worth a million??? I know its only a trial but he only pops up occasionally during the game and looks totally disinterested the rest of the time. Refuses to return the ball from kicks and can't tackle. Should have gone on report for another shoulder charge.

Storm still heavy favourites. Mostly due to what the WTs have been dishing up in defence. If Cayless has managed to get the defence improved for R1. We’ll be in with a chance. I can see why the bookies have as at long odds.

I could be wrong - but I think we kept the Roosters scoreless for just under 60 minutes.

The middle defence was good except for two examples when they were busted open
(Tedesco plays it would be have been more ), however the edges is where the tries were scored this week and last which needs to be addressed as sliding defence on your line never works.

You can see they have effort in making a few in the tackle to slow down the play the ball and if they can keep this up through a long season I believe we can improve significantly on the last few years. Weather has been a factor in both trials.

I will be on them to beat the Storm first up at $3.50
