Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It's interesting that we're looking to sign a prop when that's the one position we have depth in, at both first grade and junior level. Yet backrowers we have 3 options.
Doesn't make sense
Tamou, Mikaele and Ofahengaue are all off contract. the only 'new' prop we've signed is Fonua Pole.

Fainu makes sense. NSW U/18 player of the year a couple of years ago, close with Lambkin and has his pathway blocked by a logjam in his position. very similar signing to Blore/Laurie/Kepaoa. I like it and it ensures we're not rushing any of the kids in Flegg.

Adam is one of the best young 5/8 prospects in the game.

Typical of a Wests Tigers fan to play him down.

Hmm 70 NRL games, 24 this year & hasn't played serious time as a 5/8th for years.

AD is a valuable player for our team, every team needs a player like him.
He is NRL quality but as to him being one of the best young 5/8s in the game that is a very big statement for his age, experience and not actually playing the position for an extended time.

I don't think people play him down it's just he is a victim of being a good player in multiple positions which has impacted his ability to cement a spot. One hand that's credit to him, his ability & dedication as he clearly works hard at training.

Just hope that when he comes back he plays out the season in a single position & makes it his own, otherwise can see he will just be put into the utility bucket as a 25yr old with 100 NRL games under his belt next year.

I really like him as a player and see his style/frame more as a center/lock style development mould over a 5/8th but his defensive techniques needs alot of work for any position to be a resounding success.

Not sure about long term position of AD …but sometime after round 10 this year AD (when 100% fit) should walk straight straight back into the starting backline.
If that at centre or 5/8 really depends on the Hastings/Brooks combo in the halves and the form of Roberts and Gildart in the centres.

Douhie's problem is he is too versatile, he makes a good centre and lock number 6 and at a pinch if desperate fullback. He is also coming off two knee injuries
Maybe the Brooks Hastings combination is solid and works and Douhie either playes in another position or leaves we don't know until midway through 2022

Don’t misunderstand me? I love the way AD plays. I love the value he brings to the team, and I know the guy is a winner.
Just saying, we have better suited to the 6. AD had some time at 6 and regardless of what you read in the news, it wasn’t working. Then Madge looked for someone who didn’t like getting tackled, so that he could get some clean ball to our outside backs, which also obviously didn’t work.
The way to win games under these free flowing rules is to build a wall naturally, but also make that ball do a lot of work in attack, similar to what we were doing in 2005.
Playing 2 off the ruck gives you extra time that you can’t afford to waste.

The last established quality second rower we signed was Ellis...
The last established quality centre we signed was Whatuira....

We haven't bothered with them for the last decade or more - Why start now?
The 2 most important defensive position on the field, we totally ignore them and wonder why our defence sucks...

Beats me.
