RIP SHANE WARNE

Clearly some who thought they knew him well didnt at all. The measure of the man is the reaction from those who did know him well. Long may he live in all our memories as the champion he was.

He had the ball on a string. I bowled leggies as a kid because I wanted to be Warnie.

Watched a interview with him last night while the Pakistan Test was called off due to bad light and he was talking about how he would practice bowling three hours a day everyday and worked hard to keep weight off in his early days. Despite all the partying and larrikinism we associated him with, you could see that he took bowling and his development very seriously.

During his suspension he wasn't allowed to train anywhere so he didn't bowl much during his time off, and he still managed to come back and take 26 wickets in his first series back against Sri Lanka in a 3-match series in Sri Lanka. There'll never be another like him.

Apologies everyone. I know what it’s like to watch two or three posters hijack a thread with rubbish. It’s boring for everyone else and no one cares. Especially in a thread like this. We all came off looking bad. I apologise for my part in that.

Forgive me if it's already been discussed but do you think Warne will get a state funeral?
Shane Warne's family have accepted the offer of a state funeral, says Victorian Premier Dan Andrews.

Legendary Australia spinner Warne died of a suspected heart attack in Thailand on Friday, aged 52.

Flowers, beer and photographs have been left at Warne's statue at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as fans paid tribute.

"It will be an opportunity for Victorians to pay tribute to his contribution to his sport, to our state and the country," Andrews said.

State funerals are held to honour people of national significance.

Warne took 708 wickets - the second most of all time - in 145 Tests across a stellar 15-year international career that ended in 2007.

"I've spoken with the Warne family again today and they have accepted my offer of a state funeral to remember Shane," Andrews said.

"Details will be finalised in the coming days."

If it's not in his will it should be where his family decides, they knew his best IMO.
