I am asking the Mods. to say and do something about these attempts of ridiculing some posters who have differing opinions to theirs. can you not see their aggresiveness and the name calling?

There are some who think that they have impunity which gives them the right to be offensive, but the differing opinions that they try to ridicule are well constructed and are intelligently written and are always written in a respectful manner, we all live under the same laws but no-one person has the right to ridicule a person and their differing opinions.

My family and friends are giving me daily reports of what is going on in the neighbouring eastern euro nations which are being flooded with Ukrainian refugees. They are all wanting to go back as soon as they can. I dont think it will be like Afghaniis, Iraqis or Syrians. Ukrainians want to go back

And the refugees are only women and children. The men are all staying to fight.

Considering the Govt just announced 15,000 places (additional to the already announced 8500 last year which included LEEs) for Afghan nationals under the Ref and Hum program over the next 4 years it will be interesting to see what transpires with the Ukrainian cohort. HSP and SETS providers have already got their hands full with Afghans, Syrians, Iraqis and now potentially Ukrainians. How much more can we pay for resettlement services like AMEP; ARC; ndis; HECS support etc?

I think looking at the situation from a historical perspective I.e the situation in Kosovo in 99 the unhcr worked closely with IOM and Australia repatriated many, where as some chose to stay under subclass 786 visas

Imagine if Mexico had in their constitution the return of Texas and wanted to host Chinese military bases in an alliance along with U.S. claims of mistreatment of U.S. citizens .

You dont need hypotheticals. There is a hostile communist country immediately adajcent to the US (less that 200km) that has in the past installed soviet ballistic missiles. This country has a history of mistreatment of US citizens and its own citizen.

* visas processed in tranches and the Afghan cohort is one of the absolute most challenging cohorts to process visas for, add to that covid restrictions make it a nightmare. You got RATs for them to get tested? Do you have yourself a passport? ID? Not everyone is as lucky as you are man
* the Afghan cohort have submitted over 145,000 applications my man.

There was no invasion because the Soviets correctly abandoned their ballistic missile and nuclear plans on Cuba after being threatened correctly with WW3 by the Americans. The Russians had no right to be trouble making there.

Difference here is Russia didn't ask Ukraine a sovereign state to give up it's aspirations but they asked the U.S. to apply a permanent veto on Ukraine's membership as part of a negotiated plan.

The Americans didn't go as far as the Soviets in 1962 in reverse.

Their line was "I don't respect anybody's red lines "

I reckon you are reaching MM, with respect. The Cuban parallel is pretty apt. Cuba HAD (not asked for) an alliance with the Soviets, demonstrated their intention to threaten, were and remain totally corrupt.

The parallel would be US invading because Russia wouldnt commit to never having a alliance with Cuba.

Russia invaded a sovereign country and are blowing the hell out of civilians for something might have happened. You repeatedly state that the US failed in diplomacy. The only reason that diplomacy ended is because Russia invaded.

Serious question MM (Ive asked repeatedly). What action was taken against Russia that justifies a full military invasion and slaughtering civilians?
