Article below stating Tigers still very interested in Nanai, makes you wonder with JT, Holmes, Townsend and next season LL all on big money, how the Cowboys can afford him:
The Cowboys are ready to re-sign Jeremiah Nanai as the game’s next million-dollar teenager but the second-rower wants a few weeks to weigh up his options.
One of those options is reportedly the Wests Tigers who have plenty of money to spend and have a big opinion of the 19-year-old.
“He’s off contract at the end of the year and the Wests Tigers are after him, they’re very keen on him,” NRL journalist Brent Read told Triple M.
“Apparently he’s told the (Cowboys) that ‘I want to wait a few weeks, see how the season goes’ but I think you’re going to find he’s going to be the next million-dollar teenager in this game.
“We’re talking three or four years at $1.5 to $2 millions dollars (total), that will be what I believe the Cowboys will offer, it just comes down to whether another club comes over the top of that but they’re desperate to keep him up there.
“He wants to wait three or four weeks but on his form (in Round 1) you’d say every week they wait his price is going to go up, he’s a gun.”
NRL great Benji Marshall, who works at Tigers with their developing players, agreed and said the Cowboys should lock him down.
“Yeah I rate him, really quality player,” he said.
“The thing with all these kids is they don’t specialise in one thing, they do everything and you can play them in multiple positions and if I was the Cowboys I’d be locking him for sure.”
Read added: “He was born in New Zealand so the Kiwis should be getting the claws in here. I think he was part of the emerging Maroons but it’s not too late.”
