Another one to add to the list of failed UK outside backs that couldn't hang in the NRL...

And then we got broken down Jet on the other side.

Whys it so hard for this club to identify the flaws in the roster and try and improve them ?

To'a needs a crack in the backline asap.
Should be first picked every week.
 
In all fairness to him, I don’t think he was brought over to be a first choice centre. Im sure the original plan was for him to play games for the Magpies to get acclimatised to playing in Australia, but we got absolutely smashed with injuries in the outside backs so he was thrown in the deep end. Having said that though, not up to scratch so far.

Nah I think this was the clubs way of signing an international player after we missed out on so many others last season.
 
Attacking wise he's pretty decent, was always going to take time to adjust defensively. Madge even said it himself, takes time to adjust to the speed of the NRL

Hopefully he adjusts sooner than later but having the worst defensive structures of maybe all time doesn't help.
 
He's been caught out, however, centres on the backfoot on their goal line line is a terrible situation that even the best centres will look terrible in. I think he's been okay, not the worst of our problems. Until we start competing physically and find a half who can organise and kick, worrying about who plays centre for us is completely irrelevant.
 
He did actuallt manage to beat gagai one on one and if it wasnt for hastings being in the way he scores a try imo after hastings makes that break

Even if he scored it does not make up for his wafer thin defence or inability to hold his position.The man is a complete liability and one which the team is not good enough to carry.
The words "headless chook" describe his pitiful defence
 
Fair dinkum, the bloke is playing in the toughest position in a team that had an absolute shocker yesterday.

He hasn't set the world on fire but I'm not writing him off after just two matches.

I agree. My mate was raving about why Tigers were still fielding Jimmy Jet in the starting lineup, and I said when you are missing 3 other first-choice centres then you start to run out of good options (as if Tigers have elite first-choice players).

I think Gildart has some ability and I think you are right he needs more time to adjust to the NRL. He's ultimately quite a small frame and that's going to be problematic for him if he cannot use his footwork more effectively, but I think against Storm he showed he can be hard to handle in attack.

I'm convinced however he's just not used to the raw power in the NRL of the centres and backrowers he is facing.

I also think though that to say he's a failure, after 2 matches, is calling it far too soon. We'll know better by the end of the year.

Not sure I’ve ever seen an international player be signed with anything other then the expectation they would be playing in the top grade.
 
Gildart is also 2 games in guys like did you expect him to be the best centre in the comp 2 games in its gonna take time for him to get ready to nrl style same thing happened with Herbie , Thommo , Hodgson , Ellis its gonna take some time
