Daine Laurie #237

One of the most inept and laziest performances i have ever seen from a Wests Tigers fullback.

His positional play in defense was as poor as ive ever seen from an NRL fullback.

Couple that with his Penrith jersey situation and i find myself waiting for this guy to be punted or leave the club.

Cant stand him!

Ill call him a tanker as well. Clearly not trying his best and clearly not doing whats required of NRL fullback.

Bring back Daniel Fitzhenry ffs he would be more effective than this bloke.

When you see young players like Jayden Campbell and Tyrell Sloan who have only just hit the scene and have really hit the ground running you really wonder why the the raps on young Daine.

You could even go further and include the likes of Reece Walsh and Will Kennedy who have been around a bit longer but my main point is would Daine Laurie even rate in the top 16 full backs in the comp.

I'm not trying to be a smart arse or totally demeaning in saying that because quite a few, if not many teams would have back ups for full back better than the kid is at the moment.

Sure the kid has shown plenty of courage at times on the field, but just as many times has shown a lack of common sense off it.

I didn’t see anything in him yesterday that I didn’t see last year, but that’s just me. The red flag was that Penrith were willing to let him go the same way they did with Blore. Another underachiever. I can’t think of too many gun Penrith juniors killing at other clubs due to their path being blocked at Penrith. That club knows what they are doing. They keep who they want to keep.

We are better off putting Nofo at fullback. At least he will work hard and support through the middle. If your fullback offers no ball playing ability, then you might as well put a physical high work rate player there.

You lost me at Nof to fullback. That would be one of the few ways we could possibly make our side worse.
 
At penrith when laurie played reserve grade, he was ok, he wasn't great, in front of him was edwards, caleb aitkins and charlie stains, and stains has proven that he isnt up to playing fullback in that first grade side either. because he isnt strong enough when gang tackled to hold his ground atm. I will tell you now, the two blokes that maguire loves are laurie, simpkins, and i dont know why mikaeli. Every coach has there favourites, its these 3 with madge, loves em.
 
Im not bagging daine, he cant tackle like 80% of fullbacks and is not going to stop 80% off forwards on his own line, like 80% of other first grade fullbacks, there is less emphasis on a first grade fullback being a good defender, now more than ever, look at how bad tyrell sloan was the other night in defence, putrid, but cause he's a kid and a media favourite, nobody bags him. look at cody ramsay, disgusting defender, but it never gets talked about, Unfortunately we have a garbage side that also exposes his weaknesses. Personally id like to see starford toa get a crack there, laurie back to the bench, to cover halves or fullback and toa can be moved into the centres or wing during the game, just hope we try something.
 
He's a total flog. It's been said before but the Penrith gear fiasco and the wannabee gangster stuff just add to the performance on the park. He doesn't care.

Would be far happier with Shannon Gallant back there right now. Heck, even Shannon McDonnell might offer more.

Only a matter of time before Dillon is there. I would rip the bandaid off and have him there mid-season. Laurie can play 14.
