However all through the Souths glory run of 2014 we were repeatedly reminded about how John Sattler played through a final with a broken jaw.
As soon as Sam copped that hit and as a viewer you can see the impact on it, the narrative was he will play on with it and was going to be the Clive Churchill medalist.
I’d say that decision to play on was on Sam as much as the coaching staff.
Ive seen it widely reported that Madge sent the message out that he had to stay on. REgardless it is the coach and coaching staff's responibility to keep a player safe and it doesnt matter what Sam says.
Sam staying on was tough, heroic, but it was stupid, dangerous and negligent on the part of Madge and the support staff. Everyone involved were very lucky, it could have turned out very badly.
