Michael Maguire leaves club

Well said Lauren, and apologies if it came at a bad time or anything above is still having you feel pinned down by life. I’ve been there and am hoping and praying my footy team will be successful again soon, as if the two were somehow linked (life and footy).

Nothing prepares you for losing that very special first person who you’ve fallen for, and even worse when they decide not to catch you.

All my thoughts and prayers, Godspeed to you 🤍
Didn't mean to make it depressing and get all sentimental either. Was trying to be sarcastic but couldn't even get that right.
This team's form really has a way of messing with your head.
Appreciate the messages of support, but I sincerely meant it. This place and every single one of you have helped me move forward in some sort of way.
My first smile, laugh and even the ability to express my sadness or frustrations is due to this place - through reading ongoing discussions about the club's mediocrity and underperforming.
Therefore, thankyou (to all of you) from the bottom of my heart.

I'm doing okay, feel a little lost for the first time in my life.

Look I'm not sure if it's because we're facing the Warriors - and that I already know the outcome will not be what we're expecting, at all - but either way it's funny to me, as for years this game has always caused some tension in my household. So for the first time ever the result will likely have the opposite effect on me.

I'd love for us to start racking up some wlns though and don't care how we do it. Also, think it would be stupid to sack Madge at this point in time, however.

I'm just gonna state this because I honestly don't wish to blurt it out during an heated exchange or any miscommunication, but I'm honestly going through a lot right now. So apologies if there's some issues with the layouts of my posts.
My whole world has been turned upside since I lost the man I shared my first kiss, hopes and dreams and life with.
I've usually been lurking more than posting - worried how the floods have impacted others - and despite the WTF not always being the most pleasant place it's been most comforting for someone that feels as broken as me right now.
Even the silly squabbles on here are entertaining and bring me some type of joy. Thanks to @batboy @PJ @Demps @Merlot and @hobbo1

The chaos on here has been great for helping me cope with any emotions I'm feeling right now and any pain I feel is automatically replaced by pain for supporting this team.
Thanks if your reply was constructive feedback on the constructions of my posts, if it was otherwise some of you people sound a lot worse off than me (which is actually an attempt of a joke, if that's not clear enough).
🙏

I'm doing okay, feel a little lost for the first time in my life yet a little boy is totally dependent on me so I won't be allowing anything to hold me back. Plus I'm surrounded by family who are probably too attentive for my liking. Can only get force fed so much.

Stay strong, and may the force be with you💪

If we get rid of Madge before the end of the season we are truly stuffed.
Actually think moving Madge on early, even if it doesn't change the overall season result.

It will extinguish all the media heat, which could lead to much better footy, confidence, combinations etc so we actually hit 23 in a much better spot then "starting fresh" in 23 with a new coach

my 2 cents anyway

I think the worst thing we can do is make Madge feel like he's under pressure. If you want to punt him, it has to be done quickly and swiftly. If he feels he's under pressure, I wouldn't want him to make short sighted, selfish decisions to save his job.

I liked what Sharks did with John Morris. Let him know he won't be required by the end of the season. He then chose to quit.

The Sharks were lucky enough to have another coach lined up and Morris was seeking a contract renewal.
Timing is everything.

Against popular opinion and aware of how bad things look for Maguire I just can't back this squad at his expense. I see no allegiance to the club from any of them and - if true - the one guy who I gave the benefit of the doubt to over and over again wants out without delivering then clearly we don't have the right players. With or without Maguire this squad is going nowhere and yet it seems the person most desperate to see the club do well is the one who will get sacked.
Best Post in Ages

Most of our Players are disconnected. We need to continue to commit to Youth and the right attitude.

Madge to Stay

Our club fails year after year because this is a pay check club.

We recruited the dregs or we turn the better signings into garbage.

It’s the old catch 22. We are not going to get out of the hole without some real marquee players who play in key positions..and we are not going to attract these players while we are in the cellar.

I personally think Madge is probably past his use by date, but to be fair the squad of players he has at his disposal is bottom three at very best. Okay he put the squad together, but he is very very limited in the choice of players he had to recruit. 90% of his enquirers would be met with…thanks but no thanks.

It is funny that teams like the Dogs and Parra can successfully recruit from the cellar but we have never been able to do it.

The pathways road in principle is the road to follow, but without real quality leaders it is doomed to failure. Although even at the entry level the very elite kids are going to the elite clubs.

Anyway enough of my dribble, Madge rightly or wrongly is a dead man walking, because this roster will struggle to win six games

Getting rid of Madge is a certainty. He hasn’t improved the squad. My guess is it’ll be cheaper for the club if he is cut post season.
In the meantime, he has to work with the Sheenious and his experienced training staff to get this mob facing in the right direction. This is best for us and best for him.

So without me reading the past 31 pages, can you blokes please tell me the name of the new coach we have ready to take over when we sack Madge ?
He'd want to be some sort of super experienced and successful NRL coach, coz we have everything riding on him and his re-build.
Hey . . . "re-build" !!! there's a great idea !!
We can sack this useless coach and get in a new bloke.
Mr new bloke will not take responsibility for our losses with the roster that the last useless coach built, he needs to be judged on HIS team. You just wait and see our success when he has HIS team playing in our colours. Should only take 2 or 3 years, so we have to sign him for 4 . . . to make sure we get the most benefit from his newfound wisdoms.
Stay with me here forumers . . . this is new ground for us, all this re-building and roster ownership . . . and I'm thinking on the run.
So fast forward 2 years . . . .
"Who the hell signed this useless moron coach for 4 years ??!!!!"
Jesus Christ, what sort of idiot couldn't see he was destined for failure ? Now we can't afford to sack him and just have to wait out a couple of years till we can finally sack him.
You blokes wouldn't happen to know the name of the new coach we have lined up to start the next re-build ? Just a couple of years to get the new new coach's style of players . . . . won't be top 8 first year, but we'll build towards that.
. . . . having said all that, I don't have the answer either. But has the past 10 years not taught us anything at all ?
This current squad have given up on him, and have proven themselves to be a pack of pussies. If you think we retain and extend Madge, well have to rebuild anyway, coz these bludgers won't play for him.

Lauren
I'm not aware of what's happened to you but it sounds tough, real tough.
It's real hard to say the right words to someone you don't know to comfort them.
All I can hope for you, is somehow try to make sense of what's happening and why it's important for you to soldier on and live life, a happier life which you deserve,
all the best 🤜🤛

I would go for Kristen Wolfe. He did a great job with Tonga and the players love him.
It’s time to end the pain and sack the coach & release Brooks, make to do with what we have for this year & plan for next year.
