Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I’d be careful going after players that have had years out of the game - Hopoate, Sandor Earl, and even Tim Simone all came back after time out and were not the same player when they returned.
Yeah that’s true. I think we just have to sign these types of players at the moment because not many guns in their primes are going to jump at the chance to sign with us unfortunately.
Even when we were on top of our game we couldn’t get deals done with the likes of Luke Lewis. That signing could have really kept our team strong I believe, but here we are ten years later and we are heading for a spoon and not a premiership

Is this for real?

We couldn't have Laurie Daley as an assistant because he worked for the TAB and Storm players will own shares in a Bookie - taking bets on games they are playing in

The NRL is set to allow a controversial proposal allowing Melbourne Storm players to invest in an online betting agency owned by their chairman Matt Tripp and News Corp.

(This is a start up which is different to owning shares in the TAB when they pull that argument)

We've had a fair few blokes over the years that always had a never-give-in attitude. Darren Senter was a good example.
Our club doesn't seem to rate these sort of players very highly compared to flighty blokes that play 2 great games a year. Letting Corey Thompson go was another example of this, and a massive mistake (notwithstanding he has been injured a hell of a lot since going to the Titans).
When we sign new players their attitude to the contest should be our first and only priority. Papali'i looks to have that trait. Our club is screaming out for players that never say die, I'd rather a team stacked with those sort of players than flashy tryhards who only put in when they can be bothered doing so.
Hastings has it .not to be all back in my day , but it’s a generational thing as well . In most team sports finding the kid who will rip in and get amongst it is hard to find . It’s pretty much a storm pre requisite . I would bet that when they lost qualities the want , and what quantifies a storm player , that would be near the top of the list .

Papali'i and Koroisau are in their prime IMO. Just need more of those.

Gee if people on here are having a shot at brooks all the time , if madden gets a run then brooks will be of the hook , madden was terrible in nsw cup over the last few years how the hell is he going to get better playing 1st grade .
Terrible? He was our Player of the Year last year… also top point scorer in the competition.
Previously Captain of the Australian Schoolboys.
The kid must have some talent.

Get out and watch him play mate - You'll understand why the commoners aren't overly excited.
He's OK... But a half that doesn't rip it up in Ressies, Isn't all of a sudden going to take the NRL by storm...
Oh yeah, He's got 5 offers on the table (Despite having played little football in the last 2 years for anyone to have an opinion on him) Out of those "5 whimsical offers"
(Shouted out by his management I'd bet) - I wonder how many are for first position halves, Or as a back up.
I'd bet my bottom dollar the guys pushing Jocks' barrow are the same ones that have the likes of Blake Lazarus and Sean Meaney as the butt of many a joke...

Any good and why wold Manly let him go>?

I hope we don't offer Briton Nikora a contract. Have watched his first 3 NRL matches this season & unimpressed with what he brings. He would just be another 'passive' forward. Yes he racks up the tackles but he was missed a terrible one on Jack Bird last night, offered little in attack & shows little to no mongrel. We need enthusiasm, a desire to be given the ball & can smack in defence. I rate Shaun Blore above this guy. One of those Bulldogs off contract backrowers or Jack Williams offer much better value than Nikora. Even prefer Jack Bird.
