Unfortunately, there is no quick fix. The problem existed before Wests and Balmain merged. Before the last round of 1997, Wests told15 players of a squad of 30, they were not required for '98. The players let go included the Capovilla brothers, Adam Doyle, Bill Dunn, Des Hasler, Shane Millard, James Smith, Paul Smith and Andrew Willis. Wests were smashed by the Crushers in the last round and missed the finals, 1998 and '99 we won the wooden spoon and 2000 merge with Balmain.

All I can say is that well do better at back end if the season when few of our injured players return, we have some some added flexibility with outside 30 cap roster and with a new coach in charge ….. as I think that’s (even now) a given.
