The battle for the spoon..

Seriously though, it’s far too early to be talking about the spoon. If we can talk about the spoon we should be also talking about the finals. Something will click. All we need is a settled spine and players getting comfortable with Brooksy directing traffic. It looks like it’s starting to work.

Yep. We are real close to scoring a try right. The boys are just blowing off the cobwebs.

I think you underestimate the Sheens effect.
It’s not like he just walked in last week. He’s been here since last September/October. He was here all off season. If there is some effect that he’s had, we haven’t seen it.

I know you have to try and look for positives, but I can’t see any of those things happening. Once we fall more than one win behind the pack, that’s when the hill starts getting steep. Especially with the draw over the next few weeks. Our roster is not good enough. Simple as that.
We don’t necessarily need to see the positives but each and every person in the club does. And that’s the only thing that will beat us. There’s definitely a skill to being positive in a negative environment, it means going against the natural order of behaving in accordance with the expectations of the majority. But isn’t that what we expect from our leaders?

Impressive!
MEANING
Wooden spoon
: an imaginary prize said to be awarded to the person who is last in a race or other competition
ORIGIN
At the University of Cambridge, an over-sized wooden spoon was traditionally presented to the last of the junior optimes, that is to say, the lowest of those taking honours in the Mathematical Tripos. The term wooden spoon was applied to this position in the examination and to the person who took it. The University of Cambridge explains that, up until 1909, the results were not published in alphabetical order:

So to win the spoon for coming last your also a big dummy 😭

Of all the current NRL teams the eels have highest number of wooden spoons 14, their last one was awarded in 2018

Injuries to our better players don’t help either

It can be a fickle game, a tad of luck and we could be on 3 wins and we would all be talking about final football. As it stands none from four and no wins in sight with the real possibility of some ugly score boards In the next few weeks.

Personally I think we will get the spoon by some distance, but I also think we are not far away from a top eight side, but it will only happen through recruitment.

But for criminally stupid officiating and sheer bad luck we should be at least 2-2. No way we run last especially when we get back our raft of players out with injury and suspension.

If I had to pick one team at risk of failing badly this year, would have to be Titans.
They have the youngest captain and $2m tied up in two forwards.
They have no idea how to use them too. Did you see Fifita the other night? He was constantly waving his hands around trying to call for the ball. They kept using him as a decoy. He tried to take quick taps and run himself just so he could do something.

Fifita doesn't go out if his way to look for too much work IMO, waves his arms around a lot to make out as though he's keen for the footy but he never goes infield demanding a hit-up amongst the meat of the defence. He is a massive cat, his fellow forwards wouldn't think too highly of him IMO, he's getting paid $1m and does half the work of blokes on a third of his money.
Would be absolutely disgusted as a fan to watch him ponce about for his elite salary. The week before against Canberra when the game was on the line and his team were floundering badly he only bothered to take 3 hit-ups in the whole 2nd half.....only know that because unfortunately he was in my Supercoach team so I was watching him closely😂

I noticed that too.
Tino did stop Nofa short of the line.
