Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Biggest decision of his career. The Sharks are on the cusp of something potentially great. He has to decide whether he wants to be a part of that, or take the cash now and potentially have an unenjoyable time playing with us.

My guess is that our offer isn't outrageous, but it's a decent enough amount larger than Sharks that it could be life changing.

I don't know with Papa, Api and Stefano coming. If we could grab Nikora and maybe Uele/Pele all of a sudden our forward pack looks interesting.

Our backs are still…there

Can't fix everything at once.
Right now next year most of our forwards are off contract but a chunk of the backs are still here.
Not many quality backs will join a team with a terrible forward pack unless you fork out a heap to lure them. My view is if we get the forward pack right next 2yrs, get the backs right 2-3yrs and we compete year 3. Pipedream but we need a plan to at least get behind.

Yeah you are right…I just couldn’t give a shit at the moment to be honest.

Thoughts on offering Payne Hass his Million Dollar a year contract?
Would you do it?
You could only imagine seeing him paired with Stefano in the NSW team but what if it was actually our front row as well?

One million for a prop is massive overs imo and i don't care if he is the best in the world, that is what you pay a top 6 or7.Even the best 1 or 9 should be on no more than 900k.

Very few players worth 1mill and more often than not create a drain on the cap without delivering. Hence why the successful clubs won't ever pay 1mill of their cap on one player and demonstrates again why the salary cap does not make for an even competition.

Spending 1 million on a front rower would be irresponsible even if it is for the best prop in the games. We got 99 problems but a prop ain’t one.

Appreciate the responses re Hass. For me if he wasn’t such an arrogant bloke off the field I reckon the combination with Stefano could set us up for a decade. Both props have different skill sets but could benefit hugely from each other’s output.
I disagree that Prop isn’t an area we need to focus on. We need a couple of guys that can just keep getting us up the field into the opposition half.
In saying that, a lot of talk that he will end up at the Roosters. I know they won’t have SST next year but would they pay 1 mil or even close to for Hass?

Why would his arrogance off the field affect his on field combination with Stefano?

Agree. 1 Mil for a 5yr tenure you pay for an elite game changer who wins matches.
Haas is one of the best props in the game and will be for years but he doesn't change games.
Would I love him at our club and do we need someone like him? absolutely but not for 1mil over 5yrs
