Rua has played 1, 80min game and had a terrible tackle efficiency rate of 79.55% attempting 35 tackles.

If Rua did that in his debut NRL game it would be the last one for a very long time.

I'm sure Rua will be advised of what's needed from him and put in the work to address it. Guys a class player and been earmarked for some time. He looks the goods but as we all have seen, has a few things to work on it.

The wonderful thing about this forum is as soon as you go against the grain, even in the slightest way, you immediately get pigeonholed. If your only intention is to play devils advocate to a topic like Brooks, you immediately get told he must be your boy. It’s become as dogmatic as politics. “If you don’t believe what I do 100% you are against me”. Maybe it’s just emotions running wild. I wouldn’t know as this team hasn’t affected my emotions for years.

Yeah can't see both Liddle and Simpkins here. Hope we hold onto Simpkins, in saying that we gain Api who is an 80min hooker. His pathway into the NRL as hooker will actually get harder not easier.

As poor as Liddle has been this year, he has still offered more than Simpkin.

should be liddle gone he wont even be a bench hooker in the other 15 teams and thats fact. Hes fallen off so far, Simpkin not much better but the fella is only 20 playing hooker so you give him some more time

Rua is 100 mile an hour player, does he run himself too much, yes, does he sometimes kill good ball sets with his willingness to go himself, yes, lambkin let’s him do it because he’s like a son to chops, coached him for years, he’s a favourite, but it won’t be tolerated at the top level, because halves will go straight to the coach and tell him to piss him off, just how it happens in top grade., I like his attitude but he needs to really add to his game.

I should hope so, Liddle has 5yrs+ of NRL experience whilst Simpkin has been thrown into the NRL with hardly any lower grade game time due to covid over the last 2yrs, whilst giving 2yrs+ on any other NRL hooker running around.

With Api coming & if we are serious about bringing through kids we will keep Simpkin he has another 2yrs to run (which would still make him the youngest hooker this year) and let him have time in reserves to develop his game & combinations with the likes of Rua etc. Bring these kids through together.

The red flag with Simpkin is that he’s shown no signs at all of being a great player. I don’t expect him to be a complete player, but it would be nice if showed flashes like other players at a similar age have showed. He hasn’t done anything to make you think “geez, we’re on to something here”
