Jackson Hastings #251

Good interview with Hastings on SEN this morning, the Brooks haters won't like it.

He was pretty clear Brooks would be 6 against Parramatta and no mention of Madden and his role in the team, he spoke about using Brooks on short sides with his pace and that Brooks would do fair bit of kicking

Interesting interview the guy is pretty honest how he was not in captains group ahead of Ken M good grief

Thanks. Great listening to some positivity. Sounds like Hastings is really up for this game.

The man speaking again. He is likable. I hope he succeeds.
Win lose or draw in any game of footy, its so refreshing to be able to support and compliment a young man like Jacko, his honesty about being shallow in his younger days to now wanting nothing but to help the club and youth to be better is a sign of maturity and learning from your mistakes...Jackson could well be the purchase of the decade for us...
I cant speak highly enough of this young man,it just goes to show that if you really want to better yourself in life, there are plenty of opportunities to do it,and Jackson has done admirably well in the last few years...congrats Jacko and I hope you lead the team to a victory on Monday.....

As long as it's long kicking and not short kicking. I don't want Brooks to kick it anywhere near the tryline thanks.

Our inability not to kick to corners and pin them down there is one of our many deficiencies.
We always kick straight down the fullbacks throat and not deep enough.
With Pat Richards, Benji and Noddy here to assist, why are we a crap kicking side.
The cross field 5th tackle kicks also are not coming down on the try line. May as well just hand them the ball.
I've seen highlights of Hastings do these kicks brilliantly, so lets hope To'a can cash in.
Look for Noffa to score wherever the cameras are.

Now this guy is a gem.
Whenever he talks, people including me, stand up and listen.
He has an incredible story to tell and I wish, hope and pray he kills it this year.
The main reason is I want him to lead this side and become sole Captain.
AD is still a bit immature, nice guy, competitive but still a bit green.
In post match interviews I think Hastings would be honest and direct. He has already impressed the media so bring it on I say.

We never kick off the back of momentum and a quick play the ball. If you’ve ever kicked before it’s almost impossible without time to set your feet.

And the captaincy.

(C)
I've just had a feeling all along that Jackson may have specifically asked not to be included in any leadership group or captaincy type role. For that reason I was not surprised that was excluded from the official leadership group when it was announced.

Looking at Moses Mbye and James Tamou who came from outside the club and were made captains without proving their leadership qualities on the field first, I'm pretty sure Jackson didn't want to take that on before proving his leadership qualities on the field first.

I believe that Jackson feels he's got a few things to prove on the field and a few things from the past that need to be erased before he is willing to take on an official leadership role.

I wish him well and hope that he can live up to the expectations that many on this forum have of him and I personally don't expect miracles but hope that he is the catalyst for the beginning of a great culture at this club and the establishment of a win at all costs attitude for all that play in the black, white and gold jersey.
