Pascoe

My big beef with Pascoe is, the fan base interaction has come to a standstill this year. Sheens or Pascoe, or both should be talking to the fan base regularly

Comms in general have fallen off a cliff this year. Dunno if they haven't yet replaced Dan Tallintyre or whether they've just given up.

See I don't get this. This thread is about the Pascoe holiday.

A whole bunch of folks want to make it about all-time Pascoe and Tigers failures. You can do that sure, and I'm not defending Justin Pascoe's career. I don't know how or why people are suggesting that to support the CEO taking a holiday means you support everything else about him.

Sack Pascoe, I will not shed a single tear. Go for it. I would like to know who his replacement is, and I honestly do not know if getting a new CEO will make the team successful. But it's worth a try - it's one of the few things we haven't changed in the last 5 years.

BUT there is also the possibility that actually Pascoe is a good CEO and we are worse off if we sack him. We may end up financially and business-ops worse off.

So I'm not saying don't do it, I'm saying I'm not sure if sacking the CEO makes the difference people want it to. But it could be worth a shot.
I've never said sack Pascoe.
Winston Churchill smoked cigars while men and women fought the battle of Brittain and throughout the war however his voice carried the hopes of a nation.
Coca Cola is one of the biggest companies in the world but when asked about it, the label stands out in their minds not the taste because their is none.
Perception does mean a thing.

At least we don’t have a CEO who has Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon style meltdowns on social media like when Mayer was CEO. Anytime we’d draw a poor crowd at Ctown, he’d blow his top on Twitter and threaten to take games away from there. Idiot.
Remember his three year plan? I think 2016 was going to be the year we challenged for the comp in his world. Went well.

The amount of money he was throwing out for unproven kids meant that was never going to work.
Simona, Brooks, Moses, Siro... All made bank.

I guess it’s hard to face the fan base when the team is busted, but I think they would earn some respect if they at least communicated with the fan base and tried to explain things from their end

There were numbers floated about way back when we moved from the SFS - The ANZ deal was 100k / Match... Rail, Hail or Shine - Win, lose or Draw.

I also heard from the CEO at the time that, We were lucky to be breaking even for the other grounds.
Cambo took care of everything - But we needed to get Close to 20k through the gate to make Money.
LO needs less through the gate to make money - But the club had to take care of everything - Traffic Control, Hiring the TV etc.

Not sure if any of the above is still the case, Or when the original ANZ deal ended (I had a feeling it was 10 years - Which would work with it finishing in the last few)

My guess now that the same guys own all the operational stadiums the Price they pay us to play there has decreased - Which would also lend itself to another reason we're moving back to LO and CSS.
Thanks. will be interesting to see how the club performs financially without the big subsidies. Can’t think how Comm Bank Stadium deal has helped the club or supporter base over the past few years. Is it true we have no memberships rights to what has been traditionally one , if not the most , profitable game for us each year. Always remember 40K at Easter Show

Bottom line, Sheens runs the football department. Pascoe implements the board wishes and oversees the whole club. Him being away now has zero effect on the club and like any other CEO would carry his mobile and laptop.

Exactly Supercoach.
Ask yourself this.
Who provides the money to pay huge money to players.
The club~where does the club get the money~revenue~where does the revenue come from, sponsors, grants, media kickbacks and club patrons either at the clubs or at the game. There are other ways too.
Esentially, either directly or indirectly, all revenue paths lead back to us.
We, the supporters are the only reason we have professional sport.
Start treating us like we mean something please WT.
It's been way too long.
Members are finding ways to vent their frustrations like blaming Pascoe, do you blame us?

It alternates between our home game and theirs...
This year it's theirs, and for as long as it's existed - they've been flying.

If we could sell it out we could do the same - unfortunately, we could never sell it out.

Yeah true but given the location i.e. basically seen as a replacement for Parra home ground it was only ever gonna be a revenue generator for us ..imagine if it was at Campbelltown ..dont thino Eels would sell that out

I think the last 2 weeks the media side has picked up

We now do get a junior round up report everyweek plus teamlists..

We can stop boasting about being one of the highest crowd drawing teams in Sydney if we only play at the suburban grounds.

And they can stop boasting about members too. Of which I am one and I have no interest in using the tickets I pay for.

Yes we are easy targets, so why wave the target around like a neon sign flashing arrow saying, 'here we are, we are the crappiest club, come and look'
I'm sure he could belay any fears that supporters and players/managers may have, or could he?
Because once you are an easy target, that's it - you are easy and they can write any old nonsense. I always say that "once you are soaking you cannot get more wet".

So you are absolutely right that being a crap performing club makes it far easier to sling mud, and for that mud to often stick. But at the same time we should recognise that because it's easy to slag off the Tigers, most of the stuff they write is lazy meaningless garbage. It's the stuff they wouldn't bother writing about Roosters or Storm.

In other words - you can't avoid it. There's nothing Tigers can do to stay clean in the media except win a lot of football.

That's an EXTREMELY long bow to draw, to compare an NRL CEO with a war-time Prime Minister. Churchill didn't do anything during the Battle of Britain hey? It was his oration that did the job?

Coke has no taste? So Coke is world-popular because of the red can, even though it tastes like dog piss?

Strange things you write here.

This is interesting, I agree with you in some ways.

But it seems Pascoe has decided to withdraw himself from regular comms - Lee H has too, much less conspicuous. Frankly I think they get howled down so often that they've maybe shied away from commenting as often.

Because we have to be honest with ourselves - whenever Pascoe and Lee have frequently presented in the media, I have usually heard the majority of the fanbase told them to shut up and piss off. Esp Lee last year, so much backlash even with a simple thing like presenting Tommy's jersey.

Is there not far less criticism of Lee H in 2022 because he is keeping a lower profile?

It seems to be part of Sheens' role now to engage the public, esp the media. But also it's never really been Sheen's MO to focus on fan / member engagement. He's a bit old school in that regard, preferring to make specific comments to the media and then ignoring the outside noise.

Membership numbers seem stable surprisingly
I have considered withdrawing my small financial commitment to the club but it goes against my desire to see the club improve one day so I continue to just pay. That doesn’t mean I have any interest in travelling to watch this current team play. Wonder how many others like me are effectively just paying for the CEO to take family trips??
