Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Plenty of talk over this side of the water that Gildart is homesick and he is set to return to Wigan as a replacement for Leeds bound Zak Hardaker.

He is probably starting to realise that he is about 2 levels below standard here.He seems to have a positive attitude but with no defensive skill whatsoever and not much in attack. To be honest he is barely reserve grade standard

Mate in a team that struggled to score points over those few weeks he created many opportunities, that ultimately weren’t finished for one reason or another.

He’s definitely shown something in attack for sure. Hoping he gets another crack to capitalise on many of those half opportunities.

The defensive side of things, well that’s a different story all together.

That's abit harsh, he isn't barely reserve grade standard.

He put in more effort than any of our other backs doing the dirty hard yards at the back, created a few half chances as well. He has some skill, he probably needs a good year to work on his option taking in attack. In defence he did start to alter his positioning over the course of a few games which did see some improvements but due to his size & lack of speed he gets dominated against the bigger players which is why I always said he would struggle as it was always going to happen coming from the ESL.

Imagine if we focused our remaining recruitment for 2023 on Herbie Farnworth, Euan Aiken & an experienced (metre eater) front rower like Marty Taupau to complement Paapali, Korisau & supposedly Franklin Pele.

Laurie - Nofa - T'oa - Farnworth - Mamaulo
Brooks - Hastings
Doeuhi (evolves into a modern day Lock like Yeo)
Paapali - Aiken
Utoikamanu - Korisau - Taupau
BENCH - Twal - Musgrove - Blore - Peachey

And thereafter it's all about developing our juniors into seniors like Tupou, Peni, Dotoi, Cameroux, Tumeth, Saaukuru, Okane, Matamua, Pole, Ngakuira, Kataunga etc etc etc

Harsh... but true.

Self reflection and being honest with yourself can be a hard thing to do.

Anyway, I don't even know if there's truth to the claim so we shouldn't flog him about it but he has a lot to work on and it's up to him now.

Trey Peni is one to watch for the future.
Very surprising how well he's improving.

It would be pretty tuff moving to a new country not winning a game and moved to Reggie’s and getting flogged 40 nil but if he wants to be an nrl player he has to prove every 1 wrong fight to get back in the team and happiness will come with it. Hopefully the rumours are wrong and he’s keen to do so
Yep, I remember when Nofo was dropped then went to Reggies and got his Mojo back - promoted again and went on to have a good year then I think he got resigned for 4 years and became a turtle..sorry, turnstile. Damn autotype! 😆🤣🤢🐢

I think also people think when you go NSWRL it's because you were 'axed'
I think if the coach wants you to work on something that's the place to go.
Ken is a good example. He needs to lose weight and get fitter.
He's too good a player not to be in NRL.

I’m not sure on Taupau these days. He has been great up until this year. His form could start dropping off soon now his had a few injuries. Certainly wouldn’t break the bank getting him.
Farnworth looks like a quality centre.
Aiken is solid and could be a getable target.

I'd be looking at Sualauvi Faalago from the Storm. He's the one that will replace Pap at fullback if Munster leaves and Pap goes to 5/8.
Can’t see how storm let Hynes leave if they weren’t gonna keep Munster. I think they’ll make it work. We should be looking at whoever they need to offload.

Another option could be Paul Vaughan, we need someone with experience, assuming we don't resign Tamou.

Throw the entire sink at liam Martin

Free to talk from nov 1st

Bloody awesome player
Yep. Liam Martin is a great player.

from fox sports.
Premiers Penrith scored the $10 million coup of retaining captain Nathan Cleary and coach Ivan Cleary until the end of 2027 but the Panthers have still got some major decisions in terms of the club’s roster rolling forward.

The Panthers have young gun winger Taylan May, who has scored seven tries in four NRL games, and unsung prop forward Matt Eisenhuth off contract at the end of this year.

Next season is where it will become a real balancing act with more than $2.5 million in talent off contract including NSW State of Origin winger Brian To’o, star centre Stephen Crichton, NSW Origin backrower Liam Martin, gun prop Spencer Leniu , emerging centre Izack Tago, backrower Scott Sorensen and winger Charlie Staines all free to talk with rival clubs from November 1.

The interesting thing about the rise of Tago is he actually came through the Panthers junior system at St Marys as a backrower.

Tago played six NRL games last season and was given an opportunity this year after the departures of Matt Burton and Paul Momorovski.

THE South Sydney Rabbitohs are in talks to outlay $1 million to secure one of the best emerging front-rowers in the NRL in Dave Moale until the end of 2025.

A red and green local junior, the teenager has blown good judges away in his four NRL appearances and is clearly on the way to becoming a staple of the South Sydney forward pack.

Moale, 19, is already signed until the end of next year but given his early signs in the NRL and his attitude at training the Rabbitohs are keen to retain the front row forward long-term.
