Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

And T'oa

A lot of our signings over the past two years were under contract with other clubs still...

Pascoe has stated the approach is to monitor situations and other clubs and strike if opportunity presents its self.

I keep suggested Tapine and Young because where there is smoke there is fire and they are realistic options who could seek releases. Rumours floating around for ages now they don't get along with the coach. Fresh club would do wonders for them....

We missed Barnett but maybe we should look at who will now miss out at the Warriors....

Where there is a will, there is a way.

They have been, my issue with that is it leads down paths of us not being in control of our own roster & given how many roster spots and cash we have free at some point an element of something better than nothing will happen. Tapine would be great but the talks have been around for ages - just can't see the Raiders letting him go, they haven't hesitated to let players go before.

I would stay clear of the Warriors forwards, players like Aitken are serviceable he isn't better than what we have & we need upgrades if we want to move up the ladder. Someone like Walsh though would jump all over.

Great options.

Sloane should be given that RTS treatment...
Brought through on the wing for a few seasons then move to fullback.

Mismanaged at the Dragons.
Looks like a young Addo Carr...

Imagine a backline of

1 Laurie
2 Sloane
3 T'oa
4 Kiraz
5 Scolari

Speedy as
If we added Sunia Turuva to that list wouldn't look half bad at all and would show a clear intent on our strategy & what we will be known for as well.

Did you watch him last week in the televised cup game ?

He tore it up.

Surely he doesn't want to be back up at Penrith forever.

Dolphins will come knocking soon...
We should make a play like Newcastle did to Ponga.
Pay him on potential and take that risk.

The risk is playing in the NRL week in week out.
We took a risk with Gildart but he may come good.... or gome home.

Risks in everything....

Every signing comes with some risk.

IE: Matt Ballin - unable to play or Braith - massive diva.

I'd make this play though.

Did but I'm basing the suggestion actually on last 2-3yrs based on limited time to impress and this kid has been doing abit of it during that time. There are a few in the Panthers systems backswise that will be forced to move out to get NRL time & some of them aren't far off from being ready within 12-18mths at the latest.

And these are the players we should be signing.

Dolphins already in talks with Turuva

Matty John's recent article in Foxsports stated that he fears for the future of the game, particularly the bottom teams who struggle to recruit or retain quality players.
If the NRL doesn't do something about TPA or brown paper bags then I support his fears.
It seems to be a no brainer for the NRL to fix this problem but I recall a few years back a journo saying the only way the NRL can expand is to make it too hard for struggling clubs to cope financially forcing them to relocate.
I wonder, is this still a possibility?
WT are always struggling to attract quality players unlike the Roosters. Is our front office completely to blame?
I would find it extremely hard to follow the West Australian Tigers, geographically and emotionally.
