Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Doesn't Bird have a Broken Arm?
Don't think that really relates to the two ACL's when he was younger.

In context:
Liddle has played 63 Games between Start 2017 to end of 2021
Bird has played 56
Keeping in mind - Liddle wasn't even first choice for quiet a bit of time over that period.

I think injuries don't seem as worrysome when our club isn't paying for them...
If he were that injured here, We'd think a whole lot more for it.

That said, I'm certainly not against the signing - He's class and we don't have a lot of it.
We just need to be smart about it....

Bird is looking for a third year on his next contract and the Dragon's are reluctant which is a sensible decision. WTs should not be used as a bargaining chip.
Which is what I think is more the point - Players don't want to change unless there is a major incentive... (Money or Position)
He'd be looking to at least up them to an option in his favour or something like that...

This is a clear valid argument & one I agree with.

From what is reported the Dragons have given him a take it or leave it offer.
Parra did as well but it expired & they have moved on.
It's clear he wants 3yrs not 2yrs, I think he is nuts for not jumping at the $1.1M from what is reported the Dragons offered him given his history.

I can imagine Sheens would be wanting Bird/Manager to sell us why the Wests Tigers & for a 3yrs how can this be mutual given the history. Otherwise can't imagine talks would go beyond what's in the paper.

in 2024
we have the following off contract
Hastings
Brooks
Douhie

We need to extend Hastings now, also does the club ask Hastings who he wants to partner him in the halves Douhie or Brooks and move from that point.

That's what I think also - But 2 years gets him to 29-30 and if he's busted that's the end...
They wrangle another year out of someone and he's 31 and Busted, Not as bad for him I suppose...

Thing is - There's no back rowers on the market for next year - Us are in desperate need of one, So are the Eels...
He'll get what he wants one way or another...

Yea but we won't pay him the supposed 750k he is going to get from them - i can't see the cows subsidising a player to stay at his current club without ever playing a game for them. Having said that i'm sure they must be regretting jumping in early.
I think he's probably worth close to 750, we are rumoured to be offering Nikora 650 who i don't think he's any better than lucy

problem is he wants to play 6
he is a gun second rower if he became available he and Papali would be devastating
I’d tell him he can do both and equally well… mentored by Madge for the fwd aspects of the game and Noddy/Sheens tutelage for his skill set, make the damned offer and at least test their waters.

Perfect tonic to offset loss of Kelma, maybe we’ll get a response this time, given Josh’s desperation

Apparently Dejaern Asi, who it was rumoured we were interested in, has been released and joins the Warriors immediately, where they see him covering the halves and basically positions 1-6.
