Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Im a fan of his but I don’t think it’s worth losing Doueihi over. With Brooks on nearly $1M next year and Doueihi on 600k+ there is a large chunk of the salary cap tied up in the halves.

I think we have other positions that need strengthening first.

I’d love us to get a Campbell-Gillard or Fisher-Harris type front rower to partner Stefano.

We have cap space and we need class players. There are so few in the league. I'd have Schuster over any middle forward. Fisher-Harris is a great player but we aren't going to get him.

Money is not an issue

Ask him if he wants the 6 ?

You can't give him the 6. He can fight for it. We should have money for a marquee signing and be able to upgrade Hastings.

Doueihi and Brooks are apparently well paid. We can potentially offer less next contract for both of them.

Another player that would be worth investigating is Corey Allan. Rationale being:

- look at Corey as a big bodied, hard running Centre
- can provide cover for Full Back & Wing if necessary
- Experienced & SOO quality at best
- Bulldogs may entertain to free up salary cap space given they have a bevy of Outside Backs
- We only entertain if Bulldogs pay portion of salary
- Managed by Sam Ayoub who Club has strong relationship with
- Corey may think a fresh start elsewhere may resurrect his career
Ew.

I think it's an interesting option

Pro -
* he is 24 & did hit rep scene at 21
* When fit would be more solid that what we have today

Con -
* salary is huge for his output, no way Bulldogs would pay majority of his contract
* Injury history is worst than Birds last 2 yrs, he averages 11 games a season over last 4 years. Last 2 years has played 18 games.
* He looked ordinary at the Bulldogs & when they needed him to lift he didn't go up a gear. So his form guide is not favourable.
* The bulldogs need centers so if they are letting him go that would be a large red flag

Recruitment wise I want us to bring in players who will make a difference, better than what we have but more importantly have an upward trend form guide over the last 12mths. For a difference maker happy to spend 500-600k, but outside of that then obviously less.

Currently Allan wouldn't tick those boxes.

For his salary & recent history to compare I would prefer Bird.
At least Bird has been playing the last 18mths and been in an upward trend form wise, whilst his salary is actually cheaper than Allan's reported salary at the Bulldogs.

MWZ v2

Could of course be for 2023, but I’m still of the opinion this guy would be the long term cog we’ve been missing.

That is why I’m being so vocal, really hope that they keep this one away from the media and get it done.
he would be a great get miles better than nikora problem is he wants to play 6 we already had AD and Brooks
If he would come as a second rower yes please

That makes sense, we have him on quite a low wage at the moment and I doubt he finishes the year as our first choice centre.
That would be right, as soon as he shows signs of recapturing his old form he's off.
Lets hope he can get fit and help us make the eight this year.
I'd really would like to meet him, he seem a cool dude.

A premiership team consists of a balance of Proven Youth Potenial with Proven Senior Experience.
I know some players are late bloomers but measured by the above Corey Allan sits between both. In my opinion that is a player not worth investing in.

If Schulster got himself out of his Manly deal, there would be 14 clubs or more after him. We are not a destination club and struggle to out bid anyone for a signature.

As someone else said, this all reeks of another Lomax rumour. Maybe Pom might give it some cred in his update, but for now I say “your dreaming”

Dolphins would be over him like a rash and no other club would be able to compete.

I would take Bird even with his history of injuries. He give the team quality coverage in so many key positions. He is as hard as nails and a Hastings style competitor.
Iam sure half his injuries are caused because he goes so hard, well managed by Madge might see him get on the paddock more often

I see Corey Allen as another Mitch Brown. Solid player who fills in a number of spots but for the money is he really going to make much difference. I would say No.

I have my concerns with Bird but he is a player who can make a difference when fit. A special talent. Maybe offer him 2 years with a WT option for 3rd year.

Peachy has been one of the most disappointing results this season. Thought he wants to play for his career but he has been very poor. Hope he goes to Super League

For 2023 we still need to sign some speed in our backline especially Centre, one to two quality second rowers and aggressive and experienced prop.

With the new team in the market it does not make things easy plus we still are not most player's ideal destination.

Given the production line and junior talent Penrith have I am sure there are players missing out on NRL due to the success of their top 17. Hopefully we can pinch some of those players from a winning culture.

Hate having a 17th team which will only spread the lack of NRL talent even further around.
