Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sione's future is seen in the 2nd row but comes down to conditioning, needs to build some agility & speed.

Euan Aitken was discussed but nothing has come from it at this point, belief in our juniors coming through more over Aitken, plus would prefer Bird.
Dudley Dotoi was seriously struggling with homesickness early on but seems to be settled now, partner coming down soon so hopeful on retaining him long term.
Tamou & the club in no rush but wouldn't rule out 1 more year if he maintains his form.
The young player from Penrith has not been mentioned to me.
Siosifa Talakai plays both centre and backrow. Currently on $300K at the Sharks only sign till 2023.

slim pickings this year in the player market. we did exceptionally well to land Papali'i and Koroisau considering the circumstances.

Nikora - seems to have gone cold.
Williams - straight out of the Sheens playbook. would do well with us.
Doorey - I'd say he's the most likely. pathway blocked and good relationship with McDonnell.
Hopgood - definite upgrade on Mikaele if we can lure him across.
Bird - seems unlikely at this stage.
Komolafe - killing it in Cup, would be great to have a gun outside back waiting in the wings.
Hoy - not against a genuine backup fullback.

I'm hopeful one of Kepaoa, Doueihi or Talau can become the strike centre we need with To'a on the other side, because apart from Farnworth there's very little to choose from.
Slim Pickings.

It's frustrating but there isn't a lot of quality around at NRL level. We have Trey Peni, Scolari, Dotoi, Feledy, Jahream Bula and rumours of the return of Jordan Hill. Let's hope Dillon gets back with the programme as well. We have significant backline talent so we need to trust in our development systems and Sheens.
Exactly, it would be great to get a big signing come through. However, not a whole lot of quality around for 2023 and we don't want to burn our $$$ on big money and long contracts to players just because they have NRL experience. Trust in the junior development coming through, look to pick up smart buys like the Laurie's, Stefano's, Toa's etc who are knocking on 1st grade and keep an eye on the player market for the right big names to go for (like Papali'i and Api).

Aitken was a junior rep lock forward or second row forward. That is where he belongs with the fill in game in the centres if required. We have Garner imo doing an outstanding job in the centres and his versatility should be rewarded by WTs.
I can't find any information on his junior playing position, but he made his debut in the centres and has played the vast majority of his career there. My point was that, as a centre, he was not a particularly good defender, either statistically or tactically.

I agree in regards to Garner.

But he specifically wants to play 6, otherwise he would just continue to play second row at Manly. That's the whole reason he's unhappy according to reports.
He was keen to make it known he’s unhappy though, in a position where we aren’t very deep.

Get it done if he ultimately avails himself off contract, simple as that. Don’t know where all the negativity around us simply throwing our hat in has come from.

Kepaoa, Doueihi are the centres Of want on the team. Kepaoa looked the goods there before he got injured. Strong defence. Doueihi is a target in attack.

Put Toa on the wing.
And who do u drop to put to a on the wing , ken is lethal in the air and is a huge body , and nofa is a gun don’t care what some on here think , if every player at the west’s tigers had his passion , we would not be where we are .

Anyone got the woods madge article?

A meeting with Maguire followed – with the Tigers and Woods’ old club Cronulla staying in the same hotel in Brisbane — but, for whatever reason, the Tigers coach opted against pursuing Woods, who played 146 games for the club.

Woods left that meeting confident he would be returning home. Instead nothing eventuated and it was left to Hartigan – not Maguire – to break the news.

Woods linked with the Dragons for this year and has an option to stay at the club next season after the Storm, Broncos and Sea Eagles asked about his services.

The ex-Kangaroos and NSW prop gets an opportunity to show Maguire what he missed when the Tigers and Dragons square off on Sunday. There are still elements at the Tigers who would love Woods, 31, to have a swansong at the club.
