A meeting with Maguire followed – with the Tigers and Woods’ old club Cronulla staying in the same hotel in Brisbane — but, for whatever reason, the Tigers coach opted against pursuing Woods, who played 146 games for the club.

Woods left that meeting confident he would be returning home. Instead nothing eventuated and it was left to Hartigan – not Maguire – to break the news.

Woods linked with the Dragons for this year and has an option to stay at the club next season after the Storm, Broncos and Sea Eagles asked about his services.

The ex-Kangaroos and NSW prop gets an opportunity to show Maguire what he missed when the Tigers and Dragons square off on Sunday. There are still elements at the Tigers who would love Woods, 31, to have a swansong at the club.

Woods doesn't deserve 1 dollar of WTs money.

He dogged us and has been unwanted wver since.

Go away.

Woods can get stuffed.

No way.

I started to feel a bit sorry for him when i got the this news. He really made a bad call leaving.

I watched him closely on Monday, and his go forward and 2nd phase play is good. Problem is his defence. JWH came on and his first run ran straight at Woods and through him. No footwork, no bracing with a big bump, just ran straight through him.

It is the fish that Madge rejects, that makes Madge the best.
His best recruitment decision in his tenure.
I don’t know why I’m in bold.?

Sione's future is seen in the 2nd row but comes down to conditioning, needs to build some agility & speed.

Euan Aitken was discussed but nothing has come from it at this point, belief in our juniors coming through more over Aitken, plus would prefer Bird.
Dudley Dotoi was seriously struggling with homesickness early on but seems to be settled now, partner coming down soon so hopeful on retaining him long term.
Tamou & the club in no rush but wouldn't rule out 1 more year if he maintains his form.
The young player from Penrith has not been mentioned to me.

Good news on Dudley.

Following this weeks recruitment & retention meeting.

Nikora’s delayed/lacking response to the club has been brought to ahead following his management asking for an increase per year on our offer. He’s been given a take it or leave it response with no reply so far, another Sharks back rower in Jack Williams & Matt Doorey from the Bulldogs have been discussed as a target should this not eventuate.

Franklin Pele also appears to be a no go either due to higher offers elsewhere & focus has now turned to J’Maine Hopgood from the Panthers.

Jack Bird is a genuine option from the clubs point of view at the right value but they get the feeling we aren’t a genuine option for Jack, his management using us to hurry up the Dragons, not to say if the right offer comes in it might sway him, but don’t see this going much further.

Joe Ofahengaue has taken up his option for 2023.

Can confirm Sione Fainu is a top 30 player for 2023.

Only a handful of spots remain for the squad next year & lack of genuine targets has the club sitting back with money to spend & see who gets restless.

Sheens is hoping to pull a fast one on the Eels & securing the services of a young winger named Matthew Komolafe.

In relation to RE-signings as it stands only Tommy Talau has a 1 year contract in front of him & Jock Madden is negotiating with the club, the rest are free to find new homes.

Mikaele almost seems certain to be heading to the Dolphins.

Tuki Simpkins & Jacob Liddle have permission to look elsewhere.

Final top 30 spot is being saved for an outside back, the wait & see approach will come to ahead with this in the next 2-3 weeks as it must be filled by June.

Outside back depth/strike power the main focus for remaining 2023 spots, Tex Hoy has been offered to the club by his management.
Don’t mean to shoot the messenger but these meetings seem about as productive as the provincial women’s knitting association.

Do they all just sit around moaning about good players using us to get more money?

I've given so many likes to Woods hate. I just want to join the chorus and say a big no to Woods. Main reason being that he's such a soft ineffective tackler, but also just because I still think he acted with a complete lack of integrity as captain of our club and I don't want him in our colours.

But I wonder why he never became a good tackler? He's got the physical attributes, why has he never learnt to tackle hard? Can anyone even recount a big hit by him? Brooks has more big hits than him.

Remember he use to run (plod) the ball up and turn his back to the defenders ?
Flop over and play the ball in slot motion.

Incredibly ineffective player.

He is all about self preservation. Same as in attack, he never, ever takes a hard hitup. He‘ll let the small forwards and the wingers do the dirty stuff then he’ll jog it up on tackle 4 or 5, trying to score post contact meters, all the while causing a slow play the ball. This pads his stats which helped him play Origin and Test footy.
