Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He'd be Kayne Kalche and you wouldn't even know who he was.

Only got a start cos he's Gal's cousin.

No thanks.

Don't know that's true...
Eiso was a highly rated Parra Junior, And Rated at the Panthers before he got crook...
Was slow to come on.

But agree heritage gives some players a 50 point start. 😂😂

You think Huth got a run at... Tigers because he was Gal's cousin? Or at Penrith? How does that work? I don't think Gallen has any association with either of those clubs.

I didn't know clubs were in the habit of signing cousins on speculation.

I couldn't stand Eisenhuth as a player.

Big but not imposing or threatening at all.
Seems like a politics player like connected to Gal and got the easy ride.

Hated seeing him line up for the Tigers.
One of the softest players we've ever had.
Dunno about an easy ride. Got to NRL at an older age after having a tumor in his leg. I always thought he tried his best and toiled away without being a superstar. Started getting a few 1 on 1 strips at the end of his time with us.

Lots to like about Twal.

Nothing to like about Eiso.

LOL it's only because of his heritage that you're a fan.

Twal gets bent backwards more than any other prop in the game, he is ineffective and slow as a prop + doesn't even have an attempted 2nd phase attribute to his game. He is a brilliant defensive forward.

How is Twal more imposing than Eiso?

What BS.... Higher chance of saying Twal only got a run because of his heritage and links with Robbie to bring him across for a crack.

Gallen has zero influence on any lower grade selection processes let alone recruitment decisions & top squad contracts with us or the Panthers.

Totally disagree, I was a fan.

Eisenhuth was the ultimate anti-Taumololo - one of the few players who could stop Taumololo 1:1 at his own tryline. Also had good hands for a pass/offload, if he was instructed to do that. Pretty big motor for a big unit.

Yes he wasn't dynamic in hitups and his top speed was ordinary, but not everyone can or should be a barnstorming forward, and not all big blokes are automatically Hercules with the football. Forward packs are about balance and complimentary capabilities, like in the military. If you have too much of one type of player, you will be found out.

Huth is also a reliable, quiet, incident-free (suspension-free also?) club member, at low cost.

Definitely - Eisenhuth does far better in a better quality side. At Penrith he does exactly what is required, as a foil for JFH in the front row, and to supplement the other more attack-focused forwards like Kikau and Leniu.

Eisenhuth's major issue at Tigers was we lacked go-forward, so we could not best use Huth's strengths.

But like Bryce Gibbs before him, I was always at least confident that Huth would bolster the ruck defence if we were losing the forwards battle. Only the elite players can consistently be both a rock in defence and a dynamo in attack.

On the flipside, some of the best imposing and threatening players are high-risk or even detrimental players, who despite being a real handful with the footy or in defence, are also too unreliable for their own good, e.g. TPJ, Victor Radley, Dylan Napa etc.
The Huth always looked like his mind wanted his body to run but his body never got the message

No need for a marquee anymore. Last was Maloney (under Gould).
Hardly could call Api, Tetavano and Capewell ‘marquee’s’
Since then the locals have become the marquees and incoming transfers have been complementary players to suit.
Since Ivan has taken hold of Penrith. He has not recruited 1 marquee (thanks Rugby League Project)

It was the addition of Api that turned them around. They were 10th in 2019, then minor premiers in 2020, the year he joined. I know he wasn't the only factor at play, but top line service from dummy half and shoring up the middle in defence goes a long way toward winning games. He is "ours" next season.

On Garner: losing an average second rower is not the end of the world. Ideally we replace him with someone better, if not, won't be hard to find a like-for-like replacement. Would also be good if we had some luck with our injuries to outside backs, so we don't need to play a 2nd rower in the centres.

You're the only one talking about Twal...

I haven't been impressed with him this year other than that 1 or 2 games we won.

I like props like Hass & Tapine.
Good footwork and not afraid of the contact.

Race has nothing to do with why Demps is a fan of Twal.

He has other, more throbbing and girthy reasons.
