Yeah, I know he is a huge tosser at times, most of the time and quite rightly generates a lot of criticism but I have always felt he tries to be on the players side, where he can. Dunno, maybe just me.

Don’t get me wrong, I think he is a narcissistic, insecure blowhard.
However I think you are correct re: player welfare.

I assume you evidence to back that up and aren’t just generalising because he’s also indigenous?

Would you describe Moses Suli as “going walkabout” for missing training?
 
If he is happy here, and other players in the league see that, he would have done his job. Then hopefully more will want to come and less will say things like Nikora did. Penrith saw ability him so did Canterbury, we have nothing to loose, its not like players are queuing to join us. Kelma Tuilagi did not work at Melbourne seems to be good for us, and eventually Manly. Welcome Brent.

You're looking for outrage when there is none. He got canned at the Panthers for not showing up and having late nights inside Panthers leagues playing the you know what's and obviously it worked out not so great at the Dogs. Suddenly he will turn over a new leaf here?
That's a hard sell. Tigers is last chance saloon once again.

Don’t get me wrong, it can’t be a bit racist. It is racist because you’ve used an outdated term that still applies within indigenous communities and generally refers to some form of deeper mental health issue/s.

Cut that line off your post and fine by me. Also, forgive me for assuming that you’re not Aboriginal Australian?

TBH I cannot see us doing a deal unless its good for us.. Over the last 18 months we have being doing great deals and not paying overs like we used to so I have full trust in them compared to a few years ago. Papa is a great example and also not budging on Nikora.. Love it

Im not outraged at all. Just think there are better ways to make your point than using race. Basically what @TieDye said. I’ll leave it there, I’ve said my piece.

Alot can be said about Gould but a real positive of his is if a player does have a better chance at another club he has never stopped them from having that opportunity.

Agreed on both fronts. Don't like the man but I do think he generally has player interests at heart (as the Naden situation shows).
 
Can imagine Laurie, Roberts and Naden sitting in a row playing the slots with Laurie bemoaning just missing out on a free spins and the others nodding with empathy.

Would love to see them in the same backline.

Not too late to make finals either.

If we don't we might bring down a few others with us.

You brought race to the argument and made the link between his aboriginality and the terminology “walkabout” to be a negative context, which did not seem to be the intention of @matchball.
