Good post Strongee , Brooks is a mile better player than Madden ,i know Brooks has had plenty of indifferent games over the years but he never complains and gets on with it , plenty of experts here don’t think so but that’s their opinion

It’s not the thought that he sux or doesn’t that irritates me , it’s the agendas of some on here .
Seriously those 2 guys I’ve referenced are like the buzz rothfield and Paul Kent of this forum .
They stick the boot in more than not , and any compliment or positivity is usually just a moment before some other passive aggressive, sad comment .
Always in Kuls ear , etc. they’re a shit stain on this forum . And it’s pretty obvious since the guys who align with them have become more prominent in recent months , this forum has gone in the toilet .

But that’s got nothing to do with brooks or madden . And that’s my point .

Madden has the makings of a very good half, but to consider moving on Brooks and replace him with Madden is madness.
Brook’s defence is better than 95% of halves in the comp. Okay he has his limitations as a game manager but now with Hastings it is not such a issue. We would not have won against Souths and Parra if Brooks did not play.

I guess the biggest problem with Brooks is the size of his contract, but you can not blame him for that.
Iam looking forward to seeing Nofo,Adam D and Laurie returning to our backline. We could become competitive with most teams for a change

Watched the mini match again this morning Joffa had a stormer even noticed him plant a kiss on Garner after he put him through for the first try. He's linking up more in the play than ive noticed before similar to what Jake Turbo does.
Tamou has been really good this season too i dunno what was up with him last season but id extend him another year if he wants to go around again on current form.
I watched Hastings closely too everything goes through him constant scheming and planning several plays in advance we need to lock him in post haste.
The kid Madden had a nice solid game i know it was only the dogs but got to be good for his confidence. I wonder there was talk once Doueihi is back the possibility Brooks moving on comes back into the conversation.
Its going to be tough virtually impossible to keep both, be interesting to see which way the club pivots.

Always gets me.. a players worth is what a Club is prepared to pay..

Media exaggerates a lot.. Luke Keary is now on something between 850k to 1.3million for next year depending on how many drinks Buzzard has had this morning..
 
Picking a half for their defence is like picking a car because you like the fabric they use in the boot of a car. It's at the bottom of the list of things you should care about, just a bonus if they are a good defender.

To say Brooks is some kind of big upgrade on Madden outside of his defence is ridiculous. He's not a good player. Not at any position except maybe if he got an extended run in the 14. He tries his hardest and is a good person, but just not a great half. Absolutely expendable with Doueihi, Madden and Peachey in the squad.

I’m really looking forward to a healthy blore and tommy T move to the back row . I think he could be something akin to what Schuster has been for manly . That’s more 2023 , but still , that and Papallii and potentially Angus and API , as well as Naden and all of a sudden for not much money , we are an infinitely better team .
Junior Tupou will be a star . If not here than somewhere else .
The last time I thought that was about Papenhuyzen. That kid was the best player in the comp and how we thought he was too small is baffling .
 
Three things I enjoyed from last night’s game:

1. Watching Luke Garner score for the third week in a row. I think he’s really grown into his game this year and we’ll miss out on the best of him when he leaves.

2. Seeing us play with structure when attacking from within the 20. Our first half tries were the best for the season because they were deliberate and well executed.

3. The sudden emergence of Fa’amanu Brown and his double from dummy half. Great come back story and really gives us a new attacking option off the bench.

We went back to some old habits early in the second half to let them back in the game and give us all a scare. That’s easily fixed but the pleasing thing was we adjusted and got back on top. Pleased with the win and relieved for Madge!
